This is a great product for the money. It is very lightweight, durable and came in its own case. Easy to break down for travel as well

  • Solid gear/great price
Size: Length: 11'
I have the 11’ model. They see use multiple times a week. I’m casting a 4oz lead about 90-100yds. It’s a nice stiff rod. If I worried about breaking it from how hard I cast, I have since stopped thinking about it. I’ve got 4, the oldest is about 3 years old. Personally, I think casting is the true test of a rod if you’re going for distance. Landing a fish should involve more finesse. Either way, they’ve held up and show no signs of quitting. ... show more

  • Nice for the price, hit or miss on quality is seems
Size: Length: 10'
I have the 10 foot casting and it seems pretty good for the price, had got a 9ft as well but had to return due to a broken tip. It cast well and looks good too, no damaged guides so far and has pretty decent back bone. Seems like a winner as long as you receive it un broken.

  • Similar to Penn Battalion
Size: Length: 10'
I got this to pair with a Sougayilang Warrior 60 reel (Similar to an Abu 6500). The rod came in a cardboard tube with a fabric rod case and the rod inside. The case is inadequate to actually pritect the rod but most rods of this type come with no case at all unless you spend hundreds of dollars so even at that it is a plus. Removing the rod I just looked at it and my first thought was Penn Battalion Copy. That's ok because at $59.99 we are comparing it to a $109.95 rod. The rod is made of a carbon composite material and like most rods of this type very sensitive to feeling the bite. The rod feels heavy as it is dense and the small shaft diameter would suggest it be lighter. The Penn Battalion has this too. Comparing this to another 10 ft surf rod I own a Diawa Beefstick this rod is infact lighter. The Beefstick is one of the strongest rods out there and being fiberglass is likely to be stronger. (I have brought in a 8ft bull shark with the Beefstick). Still testing the drag on the reel the rod took the 37lb pull without any problem. I was very surprized that reel had that much drag but the rod did not flinch and I don't know if it could handle an 8ft bull shark but for most fishing off the beach we do along the Gulf of Mexico this is strong enough for,the biggest redfish or black drum iy has to offer. The sensitivity lets you feel the bite of a flounder mouthing the bait or a whiting nibbling as well. Casting the rod it swung nicely and loaded up a hard backswing to be released on the forward cast. I made about 20 casts in a field with both a 2 oz and 3 oz lead achieving distances between 105 and 111 yards. Without a levelwind on the reel I am sure I could double that distance. The ceramic on the guides seemed to hold up nicely. The Battalion Rods guides were prettier but at more than double the cost of this rod I am not concerned. I fish mostly for Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, Flounder, Whiting, and Pompano. I consider a shark hookup more of a nuisance than a goal as it takes away time that coyld better be spent on catching something I would prefere to bring home. At $59.99 this is a great deal ... show more

  • Can't go wrong
Size: Length: 13'
This is the 2nd one I just purchased. I am quite happy with the quality and strength. I have a 12 ft. one and wanted a 13 ft. to add to my bank fishing arsenal. Well pleased with both and recommend them to my fishing buddies when they ask.

  • Defective guide inserts
Size: Length: 10'
Pros: These rods are lite strong and cast a catfish bait a mile. The strength and flex are great. The handle is small and easy to hold for a hard long cast. Ive caught blue cats and stripers from 5# to 33 # on them and luvd the feel and control. Cons: Then I ordered another one . Came in with 2 broke inserts on the eyes. No problem it happens. The boxes are insufficient to protect these long rods from shipping abuse. Had a replacement in in three days. Opened it up wth another eye was broken on the replacement rod. Boxed it up to replace it also. Went fishing with my other rods and the 10' rod was cutting the 50# braid and I lost two rigs of 3oz weights and 9/0 circle hooks which are not cheap. I inspected it and found the inserts were broken in 2 of the eyes causing a sharp crack that razor cut the line the second it touched the crack. I then inspected my 12' casting rods and found one of them had broken inserts also. They are past the return window but Ive only had them less than six months. Im going to keep the rods but have new eyes replaced on them. Won't buy anymore till they correct the guide problem. ... show more
