There’s no doubt I made the right decision when I ordered this handy, rechargeable seed spreader. My husband was delighted with me (and the spreader!) and that’s always a good thing. For years, he has worked at keeping the weeds from taking over our lawns by walking back and forth, to and fro, while winding the handle on a store-bought, half-gallon can filled with fertilizer, all the while skirting the patio, trees, and flower beds, and ultimately succeeding in covering no wider than a foot and a half-wide pathway of grass on each trek before having to stop to refill the can. He didn’t so much mind the effort it took because, after all, it was one of his easiest yard-work jobs but it was, for sure, repetitive and boring. This new TaskStar spreader features an adjustable, fan-like spreading angle reaching as wide as 125-degrees, covering a lot of area quickly. Now, he can scarcely wait until all the remaining patches of snow have disappeared from our yard and he can use this shiny, bright yellow, automatic spreader to not only distribute weed killer but, also, fertilize the lawns and fill in any spare spots with grass seed. And see which neighbor is going to ask to borrow it first. Come next winter, out will come the spreader from its shelf in the garden shed and he will press a dial conveniently placed on the spreader’s handle to disperse just the right amount of de-icing material to keep the driveway and sidewalks clear of snow. I just finished aerating and feeding my lawn, and my spreader gave out toward the end. I had planned to wait until Fall, when I go through this again, and pick up a new spreader, when the TaskStar Power Spreader came across my feed. Serendipity! I snapped it up. While I won't be using it in anger until the Fall, I tested it out and I have some preliminary observations: - This puppy is heavy! At over 5 pounds, it's probably twice the weight of my current (dead) spreader. When the hopper is filled with feed, the difference is a lot less, but still, using this spreader over any decent sized lawn will be a workout. - The hopper is probably 50% larger than the hopper in my current (dead) spreader. The weight of a full hopper made my previous events a workout, with lots of switching hands while spreading. With this larger hopper, I probably will only fill it half way when I'm using it. - The large, 21V battery adds some velocity to the spread! I thought the knob adjustment on the top of the unit would adjust speed, but it adjusts the volume opening for the feed from the hopper. It took some investigation to find the rotary knob toward the bottom of the unit for the speed adjustment. Yes, I could have just read the manual, but a simple device like this should not require that for basic functions, am I right? I am very impressed with this spreader and I'm looking forward to using it in the Fall. I may actually ask my neighbors if they need their lawns fed, just so I can play with my new toy now... We’ve been battling black ants the past few years and have tried several things inside the house to combat them to no avail. Decided it’s time to try something outside around the house and yard. I found some pellets you spread outside where needed (then lightly water) and saw this handy cordless spreader. This spreader is powered by a 4000mAh lithium battery. I charged it fully and headed out to give it a try. I like that there is a button on the battery you push to monitor battery life. I spread the insect pellets all around our 3 bedroom ranch with ease. I was able to get up behind bushes, flowers and trees that are along our house near the siding. This is adjustable to handle fine grass seeds (setting 1-2), light fertilizer (setting 3-4), heavy fertilizer (setting 5-6), pearled fertilizer, soybean or de-icer (setting 7-8.) That dial is up near the handle. The trigger to power it on/off is on the handle. My one qualm is that you have to keep the power button pressed to keep power and once you let go it powers off. That can get a little tiresome for long time use. On the side is a dial 1-6 to adjust speed of output. In the front is a lever that slides left/right to adjust spreading angle. I was surprised that this had full battery lights after I finished doing around my house. It’s adjustable in several ways to suit different applications. It’s cordless. It’s compact yet still fits 3 liters or around 12 cups in the hopper. Despite the trigger/power button that has to be manually pressed for power I still give this 5 stars. ... show more

This fertilizer spreader is fantastic. It arrives in a box with the spreader and pieces all held in place by more cardboard. Inside the box includes the spreader, a rechargeable battery, a charger, and instructions. The battery arrives fully charged so it was easy to try this out immediately. There are multiple dials to adjust the speed and how much comes out of this spreader. There is also a plastic shield that you can open to only have a smaller spread instead of it spraying everywhere in front of you. The dial on the handle controls how far the gate opens inside which controls how much fertilizer comes out. The dial on the bottom controls the speed/force of how it gets flung out of this and it is surprisingly strong. Overall, fantastic fertilizer/seed spreader that is easy to use and isn't to much to carry around either. ... show more
