  • Perfect fit for 2011 Fender American Special
Perfect fit, nice and tight around the pickups but not too tight. Took me ten minutes start to finish. Did not even need to remove the strings. One thing which I liked but is odd is it has a sort of black matte finish which feels almost like sticky wax paper which I thought might be a thin plastic protective cover but does not seem to want to come off. There were also a few little scratches in it as delivered, I left it on as I want the bass to be blacked out and matte vs reflective was good for me. Also that it is sticky helps me get a little grip when using my thumb as a brace. Probably is a flim I need to peel off but it looks great - nobody can tell. Re scratches: It was not scratched in shipment as it was sent in a box way too big, about two inches thicker than the Fender packaging. ... show more

  • Black pickguard.
My new Fender Precision Bass pickguard is really well made. Glad I got it to replace the original white pickup which the previous owner had left a sticker on too long; and had a tan line. This one is black, and makes my black precision look superb! I like it better than the white pickguard.

  • May not fit older basses
Holes didn't line up well with my 2001 MIA Precision. Two are perfect, four can go in crooked, but the other seven are gonna require another solution. Worth mentioning that it does not come with screws.

  • I have a Silvertone P-bass that I love the looks of and it plays nice as well
I have a Silvertone P-bass that I love the looks of and it plays nice as well...cheap though it is. I got this to replace the single ply pick, flat black guard that it came with. This Fender Pbass pick guard really made the Silvertone look great! I mean amazingly better! The screw holes were off slightly, but it fit really well considering it is a different brand. Nice! I added some SD quarter pounders as well, so it now sounds as good as it looks. :-) Thanks! ... show more

  • Pretty Good
Bought this for my Mexican Fender Precision Bass and for about a week, thought that I had made the wrong purchase because it seemed to have a scratched up matte finish instead of a shiny smooth one. Shortly thereafter, I peeled a very well hidden, almost invisible plastic coating off to reveal the true pickguard. Installation was simple and it looks great. Just remember to peel off the plastic. Note however, that some basses have a truss rod hole located at the base of the fretboard towards the body. Other basses have the truss rod hole at the top of the fretboard near the head/tuning pegs (which is the case with my bass). This pickguard has a small half-circle cut-out at the top to accommodate for a truss rod hole being near the body. On my bass, this little notch serves absolutely no purpose and leaves a tiny part of the bass uncovered. I don't mind much, but inspect the shape of your instrument before you buy. ... show more

  • like the inertial stomach flip you used to get from ...
this little item was part of a Base revival and saved the life of an old P that needed it. Now he is the star of the show, with the look to go with that in your face punch that rattles the innards, like the inertial stomach flip you used to get from popping hill tops in the old '64 chevy impala on a Friday night out. Breath some life into a base you love. ... show more

  • Nice pickguard.
The pickguard fit nicely and looks great, Fender product for a Fender bass.

  • Looks great.
It is what I expected, an actual Fender part. It will take a little trimming to fit it on a Squire P bass though. Remove the original guard and put it on top of the new one, put the screws through the holes for proper alignment, tape or clamp it to hold the position and cut/file what you need to.
