  • Compact, almost pro quality gimbal.
Size: FeiyuTech SCORP Mini
I recently got the Sony ZV-E1, and am looking for a gimbal that is compact enough to take it everywhere, but also powerful enough to do some serious videos. I had a few gimbals in mind, but decided to give the Feiyu Scorp Mini a try, since I have been using Feiyu products for years. Scorp mini arrived within 2 days via Amazon prime shipping. It is well packaged, and there is no damage at all. When I 1st unpacked, and took the gimbal out, I was very surprised how light it was. It weighs only 1.75lb!!! This must be one of the lightest gimbals I have used so far. It has a very special design with the 2nd handle built in for low shots, kind of like Weebill S, and the Feiyu Scorp pro. Just the 2nd handle is not removable. Even with the 2nd handle not removable, it still came in under 2lb. By having 2 handles on this gimbal, gives me added stability without additional added weight. There is a 1.3” touch display that can be used to control all the functions, and settings of the gimbal, without having to connect to an app. This makes changing modes, and settings so much easier and faster. I can even do calibrations, and check for balance via the touch screen as well. The Scrop Mini can be used with many different cameras, from Sony mirrorless, cell phone, to action cams. It comes with all the mounting accessories needed for the different cameras. So far I have only used my Sony ZV-E1, it is very easy to set up, and balance. One of the major improvement is the mounting bracket, now the gimbal can use standard ARCA Swiss plate to mount on the gimbal. No additional accessories, or tools needed. I have Peak design’s capture plate on all my cameras, which work with all ARCA swiss mounts; this can work on the Scorp Mini with no problem at all. I just put it on, tighten it, and ready to go. I have been waiting for this upgrade for years, and finally happened on the Scorp Mini!!! I have my ZV-E1, 20mm lens, and Scorp Mini, total weight less than 3lb. Very workable setup for on the go video shoots. There are a few more buttons on the gimbal to help with the workflow. There is a physical knob that can be used to control tilt, pan or roll of the gimbal movements. There is also a FPV button, to switch to FPV mode. F1, and F2 buttons can be programmed for different features. This is a very capable gimbal in a tiny body. So far this little gimbal has been great for my video needs. I have been using this for about a week so far, there are 2 things I would love Feiyu to improve on. 1. Vertical shooting mode. There is vertical shooting mode built-in to the gimbal, but I would have to hold the gimbal in a flashlight position. Which is not the most comfortable way to hold the gimbal. Many other brands have ways to mount the camera vertically, for vertical social media videos. Hope Feiyu is able to add the feature on Scorp Mini. 2. There are no ways to mount additional accessories onto the Scorp Mini. Like an external monitor, mic, or wireless transmitter. This is very important to have, when I am shooting for more serious work. I would need some type of way to mount accessories to the gimbal. This can be critical when shooting for more semi pro video work. If this gimbal just used for social media, or for casual use, then maybe mounting threads are not needed. So far this is a great compact gimbal, that’s very powerful and very semi pro quality. Just with a few minor improvements needed to be used for professional work. I would still keep this gimbal for mainly social media content creations. Because of its compact design and versatility, it is great to have with me when I am traveling. ... show more

  • Good quality unit. Recommended for GoPro users
Took a bit of a learning curve but now I that I have the full setup it’s easy to use. You have to use an app to pair it with a GoPro properly. But once that’s done no need for phone to use it I use it out on an ATV to hold GoPro and have been pleased with video results Make sure you remember to unlock ALL locks on it. ... show more

  • A Gimbal Newcomer's Perspective
Size: SCORP Mini2-Black
Update: I've had more time to work with this gimbal and I found that mounting my Sony A7R IV balances fine, but the camera's card storage door won't open far enough to allow the SD cards to be removed. This is probably due to the camera's size and weight. But its a hassle removing the camera to get at the cards. No problem replacing the battery though. ----- I’m new to gimbals, but I’ve learned enough to know, since acquiring the Scorp Mini 2, that it’s going to take time before I know it as well as I do my cameras. The balancing routine when a camera is placed on it will take a few days practice before it becomes second nature. So I’ll just touch on what I like and dislike "so far". Likes -It’s well-made and all the levers, switches, and parts perform nicely. Fit and finish is very good. It’s a solid product. -It comes with accessories. All I had to do was sort through the many coiled cables for the one with the proper connections that would attach to the Scorp and my camera. And the parts for cameras, action cameras, and phones are in the box. A tripod stand as well. They've covered all the bases. -I found that once my camera was balanced on the Mini 2, it worked well and I’m pleased with the results. Handling this gimbal with my camera riding on it was pretty easy. -Small as it is, the touch screen is quite readable. -There are many features to be exploited once I get past the basics. -The Feiyu Scorp app is helpful. Dislikes: -The Quick Start manual’s balancing illustrations should be much larger. As small as they are, it took this newcomer to gimbals more time than it should have to work out just what I was being told to do. Bigger would be much better. -Some parts that slide in order to obtain the balance necessary for operation have a high degree of friction and it’s difficult to achieve the delicate movements needed. A little lubricant would go a long way in eliminating this frustration. It's not perfect but so far I'm happy with it and I'm sure I'll continue to enjoy learning and using it. ... show more

  • Expectations are not met.
The sony action FDR X3000 with the built in stabilization technology shoot way better stabilized videos than this gimbal. Waste of money

  • Really cool device
So I received the product promptly but when I set it all up, it made noises and didn't work properly. I have hero 7 black. I've read and watched countless videos explaining how to use this. I've heard great things about it and I find it pretty unique. I received a defective unit but I still have faith in the brand. I wanted to be fair. I appreciate the consideration of the 3rd party seller. Maybe I'll give this another try In the future. ... show more

  • Good, But Only For GoPro 5 and UP
This item was advertised to work with the GoPro 4, but it doesn't. You can still attach it and use it, but the function for connection with the gimble to be able to record by pressing the button, does not work. You have to manually press record on your GoPro 4. It does heat up around the mechanism area and vibrates when you turn it on, but if you're looking for a cheap gimble this is a good option. I'd still shell out the extra $20 and get a better one though. ... show more
