The unit does perform very well and so far, I have not had any water back-feeds to check out the values because of the loop in the hose I have at the top of the tank. The unit is louder than I would have liked, but I can turn down the regulator for the air on the unit to quiet things down. Overall this is a great product and I may use it on something different in the future. The directions were clear, set up was easy and the noise wasn’t bad (it is sitting on a padded surface so that probably dampened the noise). There were some kinks in the tubing that eventually worked themselves out. The only problem was the GPH wasn’t powerful enough for my hydroponic use. That is my miscalculation. I had hoped to aerate four DWC buckets with the one pump. I tried larger air stones but still didn’t generate sufficient bubbles to adequately aerate the water. I did try a more powerful pump that seems to adequately aerate four buckets and I will be purchasing more. I am using this pump temporarily but use all four lines in one bucket. ... show more

UPDATE: So company apologized for faulty one, sent me a new one and HOLY COW this does work amazing so much quieter than the first one! If I didn't see the bubbles I wouldn't know it is on! So I have to say now that I must have gotten a dud the first time because it was never this smooth or quite. Also customer service is wonderful. Company that stands behind there stuff! Can't beat that! So I would have to say now that I would recommend this even if you get a faulty one they will set it right. Now running three filters (Two 20gal and a 10gal) and an air stone, may even be able to add two more air stones like I want with this flow. So this worked pretty good, not really quite unless on the med to low setting, to power a few (two 10 gal and one 20 gal) sponge filters for two months. Although about a week ago in the middle of the night we were awoken by an extremely loud buzz (almost mini chainsaw loud) now I have to combine all four lines just to run one filter. ... show more

Would have been great if it works but it stopped working on me at the beginning of August. Owned it for less than four months. Attempted to call Amazon to no avail. If you buy this good luck 🫡 Edit: after some troubleshooting I determined that my setup had caused problems for the pump. After resetting it works properly. Easily the most quiet air pump I've used. Currently using it to keep some phyto and copepod containers going but will certainly come back to this one if I need more pumps in the future. The tubing, air stones, and check valves it came with were a welcome bonus. The other valves it came with don't let you fine tune the air flow, just shut it off, but still a welcome addition when I need to do maintenance on one line and let the others stay on. ... show more

2.5/5 stars Pros: • Initially very quiet • Strong air output • Comes with a variety of air stones/tubing/etc. • Good value for price Cons: • Only stayed quiet for about 3 months, then the noise really started to ramp up • Ultimately needed to be replaced after about 8-9 months due to noise & overheating I originally bought this air pump to power my under gravel filter in a 120 gal horizontal tank, which requires a strong air output. When I found this one my initial thoughts were: it’s a great price, has good reviews, and comes with bonus air stones and tubing. For the first few months it worked great. It was quiet, the bubble production was excellent, and the fish were happy. Fast forward a few months and this air pump was making noise like no other. The tubing that connects to the air pump (first foot of it) also turned black on the inside, which I’ve never had happen with previous air pumps. Ultimately, the noise became so loud that I removed the tubes and tried to see what was going on. The outermost air output outlets on each end worked quietly, but whenever I would attach the tubing to either of the inner air outlets the entire pump would start to make a loud noise and begin to overheat. (And yes, I did change out the air intake filter, check the inside for dust, and replace all the tubing and stones). The only noise sustainable way to run this thing is by only using the outermost two outlets, which isn’t ideal when I need 4 outputs. I personally am on the hunt for an air pump that will last more than a few months. If you have a smaller tanks or if the noise issue isn’t a problem, then I’d probably buy this air pump. If it had continued to work quietly and effectively after 3-6 months it would be a really good product. That however has just not been my experience. ... show more
