  • Excellent "mid-point" luggage for the budget-minded
When it comes to luggage, the adage "You get what you pay for" certainly could not be any truer. At the price point of this product, you can buy more expensive 3-piece sets that will offer better quality but pay less, and you might very well regret the entire purchase. This 3-piece luggage set from Fanseky falls into the category of "best bang for the buck." It's not cheaply made but there are also some quirks that would have been resolved with more expensive luggage. After owning fabric suitcases for most of my life and dealing with having items inside crushed, I am a firm believer in hardshell luggage. While you do lose the expansiveness (and often more overall room) that fabric luggage offers, you gain much more protection when your luggage gets tossed around at the airport. Hardshell luggage comes in two forms: POLYCARBONATE or ABS. The more expensive luggage is usually made of Polycarbonate while budget-minded offerings such as this are ABS. ABS is lighter and more flexible than polycarbonate, but it is not as durable. It does not have as good impact resistance as polycarbonate ones. However, this type of luggage is certainly more affordable and has the ability to protect your personal belongings and it is built to last. The entire 3-piece set arrives in a single large box. Like a matryoshka doll, you unzip the largest 28" piece to reveal a smaller 24" version, then unzip that to find the smallest 20" iteration. I have included many photos of the luggage pieces, and I think you'll find that this is a very handsome set -- particularly the Jujube Red. I prefer darker colors as they tend to hide dirt and scuffs. The hardshell outer casing seems to be very good, though not rock hard, providing a little bit of giveaway. This suitcase looks durable enough to protect your luggage contents, especially when the bags are being tossed around or smashed. The interior of all 3 cases seems very roomy and true to their size. Only the largest 28" allows you to expand its room (by 15%) using a zipper extension. There is an inner flap with zippered pockets that acts as a divider. There are of course, securing straps to tighten your contents prior to closure. I have not yet taken this luggage on a trip, but I did put it through some initial tests by weighing it down with heavy contents. Wheels are well balanced, and the 360 rotational wheels provide a perfect spin without having to lift the luggage. The telescoping handle is very convenient, given the fact it pulls out and expands easily, then tucks away hidden when not in use. Walking with the largest piece with a weighted interior, I found that the luggage steered quite well. The TSA locks are an added bonus as they allow you to set your own 3-digit passcode and include a certified key slot for TSA access. The zippers are large, fairly heavy grade, and actually lock into a pocket, placing them neatly and out of the way preventing anyone from unzipping your luggage. When considering the purchase of this set, I have to again stress the fact that it fits the bill of being the "best bang for the buck." It seems built well, but it doesn't have a luxury suitcase feel to it. This is most evident when lifting the telescoping handle which is made of cheaper aluminum and slides in and out awkwardly in several steps instead of one smooth sliding motion. For people who travel for a living, this probably would not be my first choice of luggage. However, for those that take a few vacations during the year, this is without a doubt a solid purchase choice. ... show more

  • Very Good. Would Buy Again!
We are planning several trips from America to Europe and North Africa this summer and decided to get new luggage. After extensive research on Amazon and elsewhere we ended up deciding to get two different sets from Amazon to see which provided the best value, features, and durability. They prices were about the same and they both had the PVC+ABS material that seems to offer the best mix of value, durability, and light weight. One was this set by Fanskey, which we bought in Navy Blue and the other is a set by SHOWKOO (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091L2RMXC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) that is among the most popular inexpensive sets and available in a very wide variety of colors. (We bought the bright green for maximum baggage claim visibility.) On paper the Showkoo set has a couple of obvious advantages. The medium case (not shown in the attached photos and not taken on our recent trip to Morocco) is expendable in the Showkoo set, but not in this Fanskey. Also the Showkoo has an extra interior pocket that the Fanskey does not. On the other hand the Fanskey uses YKK main zippers, which is a definite upgrade over most luggage zippers including the otherwise adequate ones on the Showkoo bags. (Note that the inside zippers on the Fanskey are generic and not nearly as good, probably a half step down from what is on the Showkoo. So it is only the main zippers and the expansion zipper (on the large bag) that are YKK and have that silky smooth feel. We noticed several other difference once the bags were delivered. Even though both are supposed to be made of a similar PVC plus ABS material, the plastic on the Fanskey bags feels much stiffer and the overall shape is more box like with sharper corners and flat sides. Although I don't think it's likely in reality, I could imagine that a direct hit on the corner might cause some damage on the Fanskey whereas the more rounded shape on the Showkoo is probably less likely to sustain any damage. OTOH, the stiffness and flatter sides actually makes the Fanskey a little easier to load and use because flat rigid objects can rest against the flat side of the lid (as opposed to the side where the handle retracts.) That handle also seems to be a little stiffer on the Fanskey although the one on the Showkoo works just fine. The handles are a bit more padded and comfortable on the Showkoo, but the ones on the Fanskey also work very well. The surface of the Showkoo plastic is much rougher and the finish is mat whereas the finish on the Fanskey is shiny and flatter. For some reason the Fanskey picked up paint from our stairwell and accumulated several other surface marks that were easy to see against the shiny dark blue surface. Similar marks on the mat bright green of the Showkoo were not as evident. But both sets came through our first trip with no actual scratches or non-removable marks. In the end, I am very happy with my purchase. I value the more understated color, the more solid feel, and the nicer outside zipper compared to my wife's Showkoo. But if you like one of the many colors that the Showkoo luggage comes in, I would recommend going with that. Its probably the more durable option. And it does have a nicer interior. ... show more

  • Satisfied
So far, the suitcases look just like the picture and I have used them once to fly inter-island (I live in Hawaii). The one suitcase I used did the job. They came zipped up in each other so it looks like only one suitcase gets delivered. I love the pockets on the inside. That’s always going to be useful. I ordered the dark green set and I’m completely satisfied. ... show more

  • Good over all
There's a lot to like about these. I have sent them through airline baggage and so far they have held up to their abuse. Secondly, I like the fact that the rollers allow you to pull it or push it along side you. The rollers are versatile and you can walk them sideways. Lastly, each luggage piece fits inside the other, so when not in use, you essentially store one piece instead of three. I ordered white because I could identify it more easily at airport baggage claim. ... show more

  • Nice suitcase
I travel daily in a car suitcase is in and out of the truck has a few scratches but expected when it’s bouncing off of tools and other chemicals in the truck. Held up well on it’s first flight.

  • Great Luggage
This set has been a perfect find. We have used all 3 sizes for road-trips and air travel. So far so good on all aspects. The wheels held up through checked luggage. Zippers are still strong and glide smoothly. I love the TSA locks and the versatility of the 3 sizes.
