  • Not just a shampoo but also a toner, & not for EVERYONE!
Being in the beauty industry I've had access to a lot of products, especially color care. I've tried just about every "violet wash" you can think of including Oribe Bright Blonde, Davines Alchemic, & Lakmè Ultra Clair to name my top picks. However when I decided to bring this in with the promise of it not just to take away the brassy tones but to tone the hair for longer lasting results. I've had every shade of blonde, silver & even white over the years so these products are a must for me. I have to say that Fanola's No Yellow Shampoo is actually a great product, & I usually stick with Davines. However I have found this product works best when you work it. What I mean by that is 1.Make sure your hair is CLEAN no product no build up as the product can't reach the focile. Also be VERY aware of your past color applications especially if you have multiple layers of different colors overlapping in your hair. 2.Understand that this product was designed for color maintenance between color sessions, This is NOT a replacement for going & getting color, however it can prolong the time between visits with frequent use. 3.Realize that everyone's hair & color level is different so the suggested directions may need to be ajusted to fit your needs, most importantly the duration in which the product stays in your hair. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to posted before & after photos as your color level varies in different lighting, (natural light is the best,) & many are edited. 4.Dont expect miracles or instantaneous results, especially if you don't take the oxidation out of your hair on a regular basis (Once a week is generally recommended) you can't expect to buy this, leave it on for 10 minutes & have those cool tones back instantly. 5.Do the work, it's more than just a shampoo which means there is more required than to just slap it on. You need to be massaging this product into your hair the majority of the time it's applied (Roots To Ends.) As you do this you'll notice that over the course of the application your color will start to change, ( again WITH REGULAR USE.) Side note: Any or most Violet products can be used on more than just blonde hair as the pigments in the color are removing unwanted oxidation or discoloration. This is a great product for silver, & grey as well. Don't get it confused with other pigmented products that come in other colors (Red,Copper, Brunette, etc.) as those revitalize the pigment in your hair boosting your color while violet is removing unwanted pigments. I absolutely love this product, I'm a level 9 with some highlift 10 & use it regularly. I would not recommend if you can't commit to regular use, & I would say that with almost any Violet product on the market, shampoo or conditioner. You're better off not saying it doesn't work, & spending the time you could be writing a bad review booking your next color appointment. I am in no way associated with Fanola or this particular line of theirs, I'm just a professional in the beauty industry that wants to educate the public. ... show more

  • GIRL. You NEED this in your life.
I have naturally almost black, thick, Asian hair that is highly processed and toned to high heaven just so I can be blonde. Not just sandy blonde. Platinum blonde. Now, any “bottle blonde” knows that purple shampoo is the sweet baby Jesus in a manger necessity that they MUST use if they don’t want to end up looking like a wannabe ginger with greasy orange-tinged hair. It’s just that blonde life. I have tried almost every purple shampoo under the sun, ranging in process from $7 to $70 a bottle. The top contenders so far have been Davines Alchemic Shampoo in Silver, L’Oréal Shimmering Lights Purple Shampoo, and now, THIS. Fanola takes the cake and is hands down the winner when it comes to toning even the most stubborn brass out. Seriously. Your granny needs this. You need this. GIRL. Go buy stock in this company. The pictures really do speak for themselves. My package arrived sealed tightly - no mess at all. I think they caught on that they needed to fix the shipping method and it seems to have worked. I opted for the smaller $10 bottle, which is a steal! You get SOOOO much product! The shampoo itself is the darkest (almost black) purple I’ve ever seen. The consistency is a little more runny than say, Herbal Essences Shampoo. The smell is a little weird. Part chemical/black licorice being masked by a pleasant salon fragrance. It’s certainly nothing unbearable and it goes away as soon as you wash with your own shampoo. I’ve smelled way worse purple shampoos. This is pretty good. Now, the instructions and most people will tell you to wash with it and leave it for 1-5 minutes. I don’t believe in following rules. Duh. I tried it in the shower on wet hair and left it on for about 10 minutes. Great results after just one use! And then, because I love a little lavender tint, I tried it on DRY hair, saturating it until almost black, and left it on for a whopping 30 minutes. Rinse until clear. And guess what? I LOVE IT. The lavender is not at all over powering but there’s isn’t a hint of yellow/brass in my hair. I swear it even lightened my roots too! The pros: 1) Will definitely 100% work for you. 2) Absolutely does what it says and does it well. 3) Worth every penny (you get a ton of product). 4) You can choose the strength/umph. The Cons: 1) It WILL stain your hands. No really. Wear some gloves. Your welcome. It won’t really stain your forehead, ears, or anything. The skin cells on the palms of your hands are similar to those in your hair and unlike the rest on your body. So, don’t worry about anything else other than your palms/nails. Glove it up! 2) It is rather drying, as most purple shampoos are. Get a good leave in conditioner and glop it on after you rinse in the shower. Put some coconut oil up in there. Moroccan Oil Hair Mask seems to work wonders for me. 3) You will become addicted to having white/super bright blonde hair. Photos in order: After, during, before, before, before, the very first time I used Fanola for just 10 minutes. ... show more

  • Not quite what I thought it was, but what it actually IS is pretty awesome
I'm greying and growing out my old blonde color. I *thought* this might take the yellowish tone of the old blonde color out of play. It didn't quite do that (several years... okay, decades ... of L'Oreal Preference might have been too much for it to cut through?). What it DID do, and the reason I'll keep using it, is take the grey that's growing in and remove all the 'dull' from it. What was a mousey dull steel wool is now an amazing silvery / white / stainless steel shine fest. I would never have expected that, but wow, I'm keeping it ; ) ... show more

  • Wowza!!
I'm not one to leave reviews. . . but this product deserves it! Holy cow! I was going to go into the salon to brighten my hair up, but after discovering this product I cancelled my appointment. I'm totally in love! This shampoo is not drying at all and just after two washes I achieved my desired results! I can't recommend it enough! Photo (from right to left): Before using Fanola, one wash, two washes. Love, love, LOVE!! 😍😥😥 ... show more
