These are sold as "shower" grab bars, but I actually purchased them to go around our very deep bathtub. I wanted some added stability getting in and out, since I have shorter legs. They installed pretty easily - you will need a handheld cordless drill to make the anchor holes and drive the screws. I felt the fixtures were very secure feeling. I will come back to this review if that changes in the future. They have a nice finish, and I think they more or less match the dark patina of our other bathroom fixtures. If you are looking for an exact match, I can say they are a soft, warm tone, not harsh or all black. They only lost a star because they are rather smooth - I though an anti-slip bar would have a little more traction for gripping in wet conditions. ... show more

You can safely grip this with wet hands. It is 16 inches long and should fit between studs. I don't think it is long enough for diagonal installation, better horizontal or vertical. Attaching to a tile wall is more than a beginner-level DIY. It is an attractive and high-quality piece of hardware for your bath. ... show more

I did not rate ease of installation or suction power. Drilling through tile is not an easy task, is time-consuming, requires a special drill bit, and you run the risk of cracking a tile. These are not suction mount, so no rating there. The mounting holes are fairly close to the edges, so any chipping of the tile is going to show. The plastic anchors provided needed a little bit of help to stay put. First, with a tile or concrete bit, the hole is going to be a little bit larger than the drill bit. So the provided plastic inserts were too loose in the hole. I solved this problem by squirting hot glue into each hole, then pushing the anchor in. Once the glue had cooled, the screws held into the anchors very well. The grab bar is solid to the wall. These do not use suction, this is good old mechanical fasteners. I was lucky, I had minimal chipping. I started the hole with a smaller bit than needed, and finished off with a larger one of the correct size. On six holes, I burned up a small bit. A quality bit, from Bosch. Enlarging the holes with a bigger bit, went smoothly. If you have never drilled tile before, you may get some piece of mind from buying an extra tile to practice drilling on. Support it firmly from behind - or it will crack. These handles work as described. They are a little bit on the lightweight side but so far they have held up just fine. We have them mounted to the wall in our outdoor shower and they have held up to the elements just fine.

I ordered these because my knees are terrible and I am currently working on my main bathroom. They arrived quickly, well packaged, and no issues. Price point wise they are great, I think for the price they are fantastic, but I should have spent the extra for a more substantial build. I can not say anything bad about them as I am 271 and can pull my self up from the tub to standing hanging on the bars until I am vertical. They perform great, for me at least, it is more the feel of it, but if you are budget conscious, you will get more than what you paid for with these. ... show more

This is a review for the FANHAO 2 Pack Shower Grab Bar, 16 Inch Stainless Steel Bathroom Grab Bar with Anti-Slip Knurled Grip Grab Bar: Kit Contains: Two each black painted grab bars, and two packages of screws and anchors for mounting. I have purchased the un-painted ones for my walk-in shower and have been very pleased with the gripping power. These are the exact same thing only painted matte black. I am putting these in the hall bathroom for my elderly father. Pros: 16 inch length, the one inch tube size is just right for getting a good grip. Speaking of grip, the bars have a good knurled handle the prevents your hand slipping even with soap on them. The matte black finish looks great in keeping with the farmhouse theme of our home. Cons: When installing the cover plates, be very careful not to scratch the paint. If mounted properly, these will not pull out of the wall by the elderly. I recommend them for the purpose they are designed for. ... show more

Good quality bars (2 bars per order) with textured finish to give you a better grip, less slippery. I did make some little tweaks to this item before installing. I used longer/stronger screws. The screws provided seemed too short and thin for me. I would have liked longer bolts but I did use the ones included. I also cut out a few circles from a thin rubber car floor mat to fill the gap under/between silver plate and wall to give item a more secure feel. Overall good item made better with a few adjustments. I am still wondering how well black paint will hold up in time. ... show more
