As opposed to being stuffed somewhere to find years later with a complaint to why they were completely unsuitable. He did remark that they are likely not to last long which I agree. I ordered his usual shoe size and he is wearing over socks comfortably. Although, I noted the current socks being worn with these are not the thick hiking type wool sock but a wool casual sock if that helps. Additionally, I ordered a pair for myself in the smallest size. Just the right amount of warmth, soft wool and sole grippers make this a winner, replacing a worn-out pair of Acorn slipper-socks that were about as warm, but these were less expensive.

These are the warmest slipper socks I have ever had. I now have two pairs. I have poor circulation in my feet. These are very thick wool socks with a nonslip sole. Putting these on keeps me from being cold in my cabin during the winter. They are true to size. A little snug on the ankles. Never slip off. The sole makes them safe to wear on smooth surfaces. No slipping or sliding. Perfect for sleeping in and very soft. I no longer get foot cramps in the night. Only negative is the cost...but worth the investment. They do pill a lot, which I believe is normal for anything that has a high percentage of wool. I haven't washed them yet. And so for Southern California they turned out to be a bit of overkill. I think we need snow and zero temps and a winter wonderland. But they are really nice sox and the bumps on the bottom keep them from slipping. If we lived in a colder place they would be heaven in the morning.
