  • Very high quality
This is head and shoulders above another ‘grabber’ I recently purchased. That one was a lot of too-heavy springs and cheap plastic, while this one is anodized aluminum, and works perfectly. I’ll go one further and say this is the best grabber tool of this type I’ve ever seen. The grabber claws come out using a reasonable amount of force on your palm (or thumb, if you’re feeling strong), and there’s even a light if you need it. The claws have a plastic divider that keeps the claws in their assigned seats. And if you can’t grab whatever it is you’re after, the end is also magnetic, so you might be able to snag it that way. I found that I could pick up any of the sockets in my ¼” set using just the magnetic part. I don’t know the actual weight it can lift magnetically, but the actual load limit for the claws is two pounds. The light uses three LR44 button batteries. The batteries are included, and mine arrived in excellent condition. There’s a little black tube inside that you put the batteries into, which holds them all together and prevents shorting out. Flat sides (+ side) go up, toward the cap. There’s a push-button switch on the side of the side of the part that goes in your palm, and it’s easy to open to put in new batteries. The light works best when the claws are open because the light is inside, where the claws live. This tool comes with a one-year warranty, but that can be extended by six months by scanning a QR code and registering. I love that this is primarily aluminum, instead of plastic. This is one of those rare finds; a good tool built to last, at a fair price. I hope this helps. ... show more

  • A nice grabber tool, but the flared magnetic end is a problem that can't be removed
This is a much higher quality grabber than I have had in the past, which were normally the super cheap ones from the local cheap tool store. This one has a light, and the machined aluminum body is nice. The light is bright enough, and the tool itself works well. The flared magnetic end though, is a bit of a problem in some circumstances. #1, it's magnetic, which is both a pro and a con. It's great that you can pick up screws/nuts/bolts with the magnet, but it's a real problem when you're putting this down into the engine bay of a vehicle, and the magnet gets stuck on everything. Also, the magnetic tip is larger than the body of the tool itself, which means it's the main restriction when trying to fit it inside a hole. The tool fits, but the end may not fit. So, why isn't it removable? It looks like it should be removable, but after 5 minutes with pliers, I could not get it off. It will rotate slightly, but then gets jammed up. It looks like it's threaded on and could be removed, but mine definitely doesn't come off. So, I'm going 4 stars here. make the end removable, and it would be 5. The grabber works well enough, but that magnetic end can be a problem. ... show more

  • Often it's the little things that count.
Often it's the little things that count...like when the tiny bolt in the 1/2" gap between the battery and the radiator overflow tank falls down somewhere in there and, with a bright light, you can barely see the corner of it sticking out from under it all. Either start dismantling the whole thing or...hey, now I have a Claw! In 5 minutes I am whistling again and life is good (and my wife will not be mad that I was cussing loud enough for all the neighbors to hear). Not only does this tool from EWK have a claw that any eagle would envy, it also brings a magnet and bright LED light situated on the tip, to the problem. It is made up of a sturdy spring with a heavy, springy inside wire, a thumb operated handle (to run the claw) and a light switch mounted on the side. It is guaranteed to improve the looks of your tool box with a bright silver spring and bright red handle and tool end. After the bolt/battery/tank fiasco, I'm am now a fan of EWK tools. ... show more

  • Deceptive photos show bent flex on its own - but it will always be straight unless held
Review of EWK Magnetic Flexible Claw Grabber Pick-Up Tool with LED Light, 28-inch Length 4 Fingers Overall this is a pretty good grabber. The grip on the claw is surprisingly tight and it will pickup most small objects except flat ones. It needs to get the ends of the grabber around something to latch onto something. The magnetic end isn't especially powerful and I don't think it would pick up a 2lbs object like the description says. In a way the magnetic end can be a bit of a hindrance because moving it near anything like say an engine block will cause it to stick to that rather than what you are trying to grab. The built in LED is OK at lighting whatever you are trying to retrieve. My biggest complaint is that the product photos are a bit deceptive. The flex hose of the grabber always wants to be perfectly straight. If you bend it and let go it will return to being straight. You cannot "pre-bend" the flex at an angle and then poke at the object you are trying to retrieve around a corner because it will immediately spring back to being straight. However the product photos clearly show it bent it a U shape *without* being held - that is clearly impossible. Overall for the price it's a handy tool to have for that time when you drop a screw or something down into a location you can't easily reach. ... show more

  • Cool
Nice little flexible grabber tool for hard to reach spots. While this isn't going to hold on to super heavy things, it's super useful for fishing your keys out of a drain. I keep it in my car for those unexpected type of situations, even though it'll get home use as well. Handy too for fishing dropped bolts out of engines you're working on. ... show more

  • Ends are well-built, not cheap plastic like others
The plunger and grabber ends are made of aluminum and should be very durable. The innovation here is the light on the end. The power button is on the plunger end. Do not discard the black barrel inside as this is where the 3 batteries (included) are found. When the part you drop is in a dark place, even the little light from the LED really helps. I plan for this tool to last a very long time. ... show more

  • useful
This is a useful pickup tool. The combination of the claws + magnets + a light means it has multiple uses. The tiny batteries are the only real downside.
