  • 5/16” transmission cooler is plug-n-play
Size: 8 Pass
Perfect for light to medium duty trucks that use 5/16” lines. Most other coolers including the superior stacked plate type are intended for 3/8” lines, but if your truck, like my ‘97 F150 uses 5/16”, you are stuck trying to adapt. And don’t just slide 3/8 rubber line over the factory steel 5/16”, it’s a recipe for being stuck beside the road when everything gets hot and the I’ll fitting line pops off. ... show more

  • So far nothing negative, but benefits show however.
Size: 4 Pass
Bought this for a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis. My daily commute frequently has me stuck in stop and go traffic and although I don't have a temp gauge for the transmission it was pretty noticable when you could feel the transmission fluid was getting a bit too hot. Shifts would be a tad bit jerky and as soon as you started moving at a good pace it disappears. And I just changed the transmission fluid and filter so I was looking for a bit of "insurance". On my car the factory trans cooler is linked to the passenger side of the radiator. Here in NJ the summers can get extremely hot and humid. Having my radiator balance between cooling my engine, power steering fluid, and transmission fluid felt a bit excessive to me so I decided to mount a auxiliary cooler for it. Because I didn't want the transmission fluid to get too cold in winter (which can also be brutal here) I kept the cooler inline with the radiator so the transmission fluid can warm up along with the coolant. I mounted it in front of the cooling fan and right behind the grille. It wasn't hard and routing it was straight forward although I did need 4 more feet of 5/16 hose. In my application it goes from transmission to auxiliary cooler, to radiator cooler, and back to transmission. Do note in the pictures I used fuel injection style hose clamps. I highly recommend these as they clamp better and don't risk cutting into the hose like traditional worm gear clamps. After a long day and night drive I noticed the transmission behaving much different. Shifts stayed consistent and smooth. Even in high temperatures and stuck in traffic the transmission wouldn't jerk or shift a bit harsh like it did. These 4R70W transmission DO NOT like hot temperatures so I think the transmission and fluid thank me for that. Also note my transmission capacity increased by about half a quart so be aware of that. I don't know how it'll behave in winter with cold temps but I will say that I'd rather have my transmission fluid and transmission itself cooled excessively than cooked. We'll see how longevity factors in over time but so far I'm happy. ... show more

  • Open Tube Cooler
Size: 4 Pass
I was torn between this an the plate fin type. The plate fin is supposed to be more efficient but I went with the open tube so that I don't have to worry about plugged passages or back pressure. The other brand which was a plate design was returned after purchased. Otherwise I have never used this brand before. Time will tell. Installed in 70's car that didn't have a transmission cooler before. ... show more

  • Good cooler for the money not sure how long it lasts I only had it a few weeks
Size: 8 Pass
08 toyota tacoma 4.0 V6 Keeping transmission temps down 30-40 deg cooler I bought hoses at Napa instead of using the lines it came with as a precaution from other reviews here and also bought clamps instead of clamps it came with. I also putting a fan on it to keep air flow moving thru it. I still have seen temps go up after normal driving when I come to a stop temps just go up and unless I'm moving temps are still up to 17 deg. Due to ambient outside temp not cooling the cooler or air not moving thru the cooler enough that's why I got the fan to help cool it on demand with a switch in the dash only when I haul my camper and see temps rise in stop and go traffic I'm using ultragage I bought and torque app on my phone with obd scanner at times to see the temps in real time.. Recently changed transmission fluid drain and fill. Please add fluid to cooler when installing cause cooler needs to be primed and if u don't your taking away fluid from transmission amount. ... show more

  • Works well, great value
Size: 8 Pass
I bought this for my 1983 C-10, mounts in front of the radiator, transmission cooler that's in the radiator failed, causing transmission failure, so rebuilt transmission and installed external transmission cooler, works great
