  • Overpriced for what it does
Style: 3 Pack
Just like iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, these are way overpriced for what they do. I'm guessing it's about $5 tops to make and they sell them for over $30. Good for them, good for capitalism. I bought 6 of them! They're dead simple to install and use. I wish they were a lot smaller and less conspicuous. ... show more

  • Excellent quality
Style: 3 Pack
They work perfect with HomeKit, creating rules for operating lights is the best part. I believe this was worth the cost.

  • Fast and easy
Style: Single Pack
I’ve done home automation before and in a new apartment I decided to go with Apple HomeKit as the base system. I tried a few other sensors for doors and the delay in lighting was unacceptable… these though are fantastic speedy and no noticeable lag for the lighting automations I will be using these for all of my door and window automations 👍🏻 ... show more

  • Difficult to replace battery
Style: 3 Pack
When I first tried to set up the Eve Door & Window, I was unable to remove the battery cover. I had to have two other people try removing it before we could get it open. Then I discovered that the units use a rather uncommon battery. I could probably live with searching for replacement batteries when that time comes, but the difficulty in removing the battery cover was a deal breaker for me. Once the units are attached in place, I couldn't understand how I would be able to change the battery. It seems I would need to pry the unit off the wall or door first. For this reason I decided to return the product. Incidentally, tech support was responsive via email. ... show more

  • Great addition to HomeKit
Style: 3 Pack
These are a perfect addition for windows and doors. HomeKit notifications almost instant, and you can include them in automations. Also, no hub is required!

  • Reliable & fast contact sensor trigger w/thread
Style: Single Pack
I've got HomePod Minis and Eve Energy devices so I'm using the Eve Door & Window with thread. They come with plenty of spacers to adjust the non-battery powered passive part of the contact sensor. So depending on your door or whatever, most people should find a way to make these work. The battery cover is hard to install and feels like you're forcing it on -- so I'm concerned that battery replacement might be frustrating. So try to be sure there's a way to remove the active sensor from the battery door, which is done by sliding away the sensor body. Those are the only negative things I can say about these devices. Importantly, the both my Window and Door contact sensors already had the new Thread firmware (purchased in July 2021). So I did not need to upgrade their firmware. At first when I added an Eve contact sensor, it didn't trigger automations reliably. So I rebooted all my Eve Energy and HomePod devices. Since then they've been working flawlessly, every time, and near instantly. I have one contact sensor that turns on the hallway lights when the closet doors are opened, and turns them off when closed. I have another sensor on a slider that we only open up to let fresh air in. So I set up an automation to put our Ecobee into away mode to keep the AC or heat from turning on when we have the windows open. They've been extremely fast, triggering within a second of opening or closing. By using the Eve app I can see that so far these contact sensor Thread end-points are relaying their activity to an Eve Energy thread router that is about 30-40 feet away with several walls. That's impressive range and I'm surprised they're not routing through closer HomePod Minis or NanoLeaf Essentials bulbs. I plan on buying more of these devices soon as I can think of more practical, life improving things to do with them :-) ... show more
