During that time, it will show "disconnected". works just fine. If the instructions are followed the weight reading shows up quickly flashes twice then stays lite in view. The instructions are to put your full foot on the scale push down the release. This sets the scale. Then step on the scale as you would any other scale for weight reading.I like the wide size so that both my feet fit on the scale without my being off balance. I started weightloss shots a little bit ago. Insurance requires weekly weight check-ins to stay on the medication because of the cost. I have to hit milestones or show progress in order to stay on it. This scale is very accurate. There is only a 1lb difference between my doctor's scale and this one. No specific way to tell if either is exact, but close enough to be accurate enough. I put a 25lb weight on it (with a towel to protect it) and it came in at 25.3Lbs. So, I have to say pretty accurate. It is sleek, looks nice in any place. Easy to store or rest against the wall. I would not hesitate to tell someone to buy this. The only concern I would have is if you are extremely over weight whether it could handle. I was 265 when I started and had no issue or concern. But it feels like it is made of tempered glass, so there is a chance at some point it shatters. ... show more

    • Dust Magnet and Only Lasted 4 Years with Intermittent Use

This officially counts as the shortest amount of time I've kept a scale. It's a really nice looking scale, love the wider size. But I've only used this here and there over a 4 year span and it stopped working altogether. That's pretty short to me for a scale, especially one that isn't been used constantly. In the beginning of the purchase, I'd weigh myself once or twice a week consistently, then most weeks, then closer to once a month after a couple of years. So heavy use isn't what did this in. The Lo indicator flashed so I changed the batteries and nothing. It's just dead now. If you don't mind the potential for only 4 years of ownership, I'd say this is still a buy. It's a good, accurate scale. The only thing I will caution is that, this is the first black glass scale I've had and man oh man does this thing collect and show dust. The scale I had before this one was a clear and grey glass scale and didn't require the same visual upkeep. So I'm not getting this scale a second time. Most of it is because it's the length of ownership, but the other is definitely because I'm steering clear of a black scale and going with a lighter color next time. But this served me well in it's time. I'm not a fan of all the bells and whistles that many scales have right now, so definitely recommend it despite the minor issues I've outlined if you want a basic, but very nice looking scale that just gives you an accurate weight reading. ... show more

My Weight Watchers scale from Costco conked out after 8 years. I wanted a similar digital scale but Costco doesn't seem to carry one. This functions similarly. In fact, it's easier to determine your weight because after activating the scale (by stepping on and off until it zeroes out), you step on until your final weight blinks 3 times. Neat. While slightly smaller than my previous scale, I believe that the weight capacity is higher (400 lbs.). It comes with batteries which is a plus. Shipment was next day. It is manufactured in China (for those who want to know). The U.S. online warranty registration process was straightforward. The warranty is for 2 years. All in all, recommended. ... show more
