  • Perfectly calibrated...
Size: 3/8 Inch Drive (10-80 ft.-lb.)
I'm writing this review because I read some of the other reviews and they were saying how they twisted off bolts because the torque wrench wasn't calibrated right. First of all I don't use a torque wrench unless I know that it's calibrated especially since I use it on airplanes, motorcycles and engines. I've been a licensed A&P (airplane mechanic) for over 20 years so I know how to use a torque wrench properly. Regardless, this seems to be a well-made torque wrench and I'm looking forward to it lasting many years to come. So the pictures that I submitted are me testing the calibration on the torque wrench. If you don't understand the pictures you can YouTube, "testing calibration on a torque wrench". You can see that the weights that I put on it were 30.4 lb and I adjusted the torque wrench to 30.5 lb. The weights made it barely click over which means that it's calibrated perfectly. I have no problems using it. It ratchets well, feels good and is calibrated so unless I'm doing something wrong while using it, I won't have any issues twisting off bolts. The only one con that I could find is when you're setting it to a higher torque you have to keep loosening the lock and it's kind of stiff twisting the handle to get to the higher torque. Other than that, I definitely suggest buying one of these since they're inexpensive and calibrated... ... show more

Size: 1/2 Inch Drive (10-150 ft.-lb.)
I don’t write many product reviews but I felt compelled to address some of the negative reviews here. There are reviews that it is difficult to adjust the torque. That is false. There is a tension screw at the base of the handle. Loosen the screw and the torque adjusts effortlessly. Tighten it back up and it stays where you put it. I read that the “click” wasn’t pronounced enough. I’ve used a good number of torque wrenches in the military and in commercial garages. I think the click is as pronounced as any other wrench. It is not super audible if there is a lot of noise around but it is very visible and you can definitely feel it. Using it in a quiet area, you can most definitely hear the click. All and all, this wrench does what it needs to do. I do wish the torque adjustment ratcheted, but besides that, this is well worth the $25. ... show more

  • Disappointed with poor accuracy. (Now Resolved)
Size: 1/4 Inch Drive (20-200 in.-lb.)
July 18 2018 Follow up: EPAuto sent me an unsolicited free replacement wrench which I received and evaluated yesterday using the same equipment as before. I evaluated the replacement wrench at 7 torque settings across the entire 20-200 in-lb. range spaced at 30 in-lb. I’m happy to have found that all measured points complied with the +/-4% specified accuracy with more than half of the points measuring +/- 2.3% or better. I’m very happy with this resolution! Original Review: I’m disappointed with the poor accuracy. I bought this wrench and used an electronic torque adapter to check its accuracy directly. I first checked the accuracy of the torque adapter using a breaker bar and hanging weights at a measured distance from the fitting with the breaker bar horizontal and level. The weight of the breaker bar handle at the measured distance is also summed in with the hanging weights and torque at the adapter is calculated. The calculated torque agreed with the torque displayed by the torque adapter to within 0.6 % or less at 30 and 141 in-lbs. I then used the validated torque adapter to measure the Epauto wrench and a competing 20-200 in-lb model from the OEM company sold by Auto Zone. I measured both wrenches at 4 different torque points from 23.5 to 120 in-lb. The errors for the Epauto wrench ranged from 7.0% to 32.8%. None of the 4 points complied with 4% spec and 3 of the 4 points were in excess of 11% error. The OEM model had errors that ranged from 1.2% to 4.7% with 3 of the 4 points being less than 2% error. I returned the Epauto wrench because the errors were far in excess of the specified limit. The return was easy and convenient. ... show more

  • Need a breaker bar? Buy this. Need a torque wrench? Don’t.
Size: 1/2 Inch Drive (10-150 ft.-lb.)
This torque wrench was a major miss for me. It doesn’t operate correctly. I needed to torque on the lower end of the wrench. It never clicked. I sat it on the shelf thinking maybe I just was asking too much of it. Fast forward to today. I needed to torque the bolt holding my mower blade to 40 foot pounds. I figured “hey! Redemption time for this purchase! Now my wife can’t tell me I bought a useless wrench.” Well I followed the directions to set the torque to 40 ft lbs. After working on the bolt for a bit I thought I was probably using too much weight. I backed it off to 20 and got a distinctive click. Cool. It works. So I up it to 30. Still a click. Perfect. This thing works. 35. Click. Alright. 40 here we go. Hmm. No click, but it worked on the other settings so I must just not have tightened it enough. A few turns later it really seems that I’m using too much force, but it worked on the earlier settings, it must be working now. Turn, turn, SNAP!!! And the bolt snaps. So yeah. This thing won’t work in the 10-15 ft lb range and won’t work at 40. It’s useless and I think I learned my lesson on buying a cheap torque wrench. ... show more

  • Works great for my infrequent use.
Size: 1/2 Inch Drive (10-150 ft.-lb.)
So far, I've only used this for spark plugs, and it worked as expected. I haven't tested the accuracy of the torque setting yet. When it first arrived, I tried setting it to its max torque just to make sure there weren't any problems adjusting it across the full range. When I did so, it felt like something was wrong... some strong resistance when adjusting the torque, which felt like gear teeth not meshing properly. But it turned out that I didn't have the lock knob fully counter-clockwise. If you start out with the wrench on its lowest torque setting, the lock knob doesn't turn very far. So, after you start increasing the torque setting, you have to loosen the lock knob a little more. Once I realized that, everything felt fine. Anyway, it worked as expected, and I would buy again, especially for as infrequently as I need a torque wrench. ... show more
