  • The best.
The ideal olive oil.

  • Very fancy and slightly bitter
I ordered the "Ardente - Medium" bottle of this Entimo Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It comes well-presented, in a very giftable box, with a brochure about the Entimo Artisanal Series oils. It look and feels expensive and high-end. Upon opening the bottle, the aroma is fresh, fruity, and slightly grassy. The flavor is light and peppery with a little bitter bite at the end. It's not my favorite EVOO I've ever tried and I'd use this one for cooking rather than finishing or dipping, but it is a lovely fancy oil - if I received this as a hostess gift I'd be very impressed by it! ... show more

  • A different tasting EVOO than you might be used to - heavy on the Polyphenols.
I don't quite know how to explain this EVOO. My wife loved it and chose it after I presented two Italian EVOOs to her in a blind taste test. But I didn't find it appealing. I was expecting more of a traditional EVOO flavor. Instead, this one tasted somewhat metallic to me. I think it's because it's "Polyphenols rich." I recall tasting a pricey olive oil that was EXTREEMLY rich with Polyphenols and I found it to be quite bitter tasting. After tasting this Entimio Ardente EVOO, my immediate reaction was to think that perhaps it was made when the olives were picked too early... before they were ripe enough to make into olive oil. Anyway, that's my honest impression. So, I guess I'm not as adventurous when it comes to experimenting with Polyphenol rich EVOO. But, hey, your wife might love it! ... show more

  • Gorgeous packaging, strong, peppery flavor but over-priced
The packaging is so pretty! They do a great job making you feel like you're buying a truly high-quality bottle of olive oil. The taste is very peppery and you can tell it's a good olive oil. Is it a $50 olive oil? I'm not sold. I liked it, but it didn't taste 5x better than my go-to generic brands. Could make a nice gift for a connoisseur, though. ... show more

  • Dark and rich in taste with a slightly bitter aftertaste
This EVOO is dark and rich in taste - it's quite fancy and maybe a little too fancy for my tastebuds. Upon first trying it, the taste is heavy and decadent but it is followed by a slightly bitter aftertaste which I'd attribute (maybe) to the polyphenols. I've really only had this EVOO out of the bottle (to dip bread) and haven't tried cooking with it. Perhaps the bitter taste will not be detectable that way. Otherwise, it's definitely a quality oil that if you're used to the bitterness, is worth the price. ... show more

  • Excellent flavor, on the spicy/peppery side and somewhat intense
While this is definitely a pricy oil, it presents itself exceptionally well. Starting with the packaging which is visually very appealing, as well as doing an excellent job of protecting the bottle. This comes from the 2022 harvest, which is stamped on the bottle itself. It also comes with a brochure that provides quite a bit of information - some of it on the interesting side (how the company got started, how they do things, etc.) and some of it on the very helpful side (how to ‘sample’ olive oils). It actually gave me a sortr of personal connection to the oil. As for the oil itself, this is an excellent oil with a high smoke point. The flavor is somewhat robust - more so than most other olive oils I have had. The initial taste is a strong green olive flavor, followed by a spicy and peppery flavor and I am getting a taste of what tastes like tomato leaves. Because of the cost of this and also wanting to take advantage of the robust flavor, this oil is probably best used ‘raw’ (i.e. salads, dipping sauces, etc.) or when cooking something that you actually want the flavor of the oil to come through (otherwise you can just use a less expensive oil that you don’t really care that much about the flavor!). Because of the impressive packaging and the excellent quality this would also make an excellent gift for an oil enthusiast, cook, or even a housewarming gift. ... show more

  • Intense flavor, very decadent olive oil!
I have never had olive oil this fancy before, and I was intrigued to see what such a luxurious olive oil was all about. Upon opening the bottle for the first time, the rich and complex aroma quickly radiated from the bottle and demanded an immediate taste-testing. The oil's flavor is much like the scent- full bodied, fruity, peppery, and with distinct notes of tomato and celery playing across my tongue. The oil has an unexpected spicy bite, and touch of a bitter finish that clears to a buttery feel in the mouth. I can detect the notes of apple, but to me the tomato is the strongest of the notes. I cannot fully describe how different the experience of this olive oil is compared to the ones I pick out at grocery stores- it's like having blurry vision all of your life and suddenly seeing clearly. I had no idea that olive oil could have such depth of flavors, tastes, and feel- but now I don't know if I can go back to my old brands easily. This oil would be heavenly on caprese salad, on pastas, in marinara sauces, or poured in a bowl and topped with herbs for dipping breads. The oil has a high smoke point making it great for cooking, and it will enhance the flavor profile of many dishes all on its own. This oil arrived in a gift-worthy box and very well secured inside, in utterly perfect condition. This oil would make a lovely gift, especially for foodies and for housewarmings. I'm so, so spoiled on olive oils after tasting this- it's simply incredible! • Expensive, but high quality
This is a very good quality olive oil. It came extremely well packaged, so you can feel confident that it's unlikely to break in transit, and also would make a great gift. It also comes with a nice little pamphlet that gives insight into the company's harvesting as well as the health benefits of EVOO. Unlike more conventional, store bought olive oils, it has that distinct bitter and peppery bite to it that comes with higher quality olive oils. When using this particular olive oil, I find that you need less because it has more intense flavor. While it's advertised as having a higher smoke point, I personally would be more inclined to reserve this for drizzling, salads, and dipping bread to fully appreciate the flavor, and use a cheaper more conventional olive oil for cooking. ... show more
