  • Spot on accuracy!
As a novice violinist, achieving the perfect tune is crucial, and this tuning tool delivers precision that has garnered approval from my wife, an accomplished musician, as well as my violin instructor and a separate electronic tuning device. It has proven to be a true time-saver, effortlessly clamping onto the pegbox with speed and ease. The visual clarity it provides is exceptional, even for me without my glasses. Its compact size is a standout feature, seamlessly fitting into my violin case for convenient portability during travels. Overall, this tuning accessory has significantly enhanced my practice sessions and performances, making it an indispensable tool for any violinist, whether beginner or seasoned. ... show more

  • Great tuner to help learn fingering.
Love this tuner for my violin. I can put it on just tuning hor the continuous mode that registers each note. Since I’m new to the instrument I use it to make sure my fingers on on the right notes. Use to use. Easy to read and adjust my placement for correction. Easy to set up. Easy to turn on and off. Fits well below the scroll around my D/A string pegs. I’m also using the Trala app that I live and it’s helping learn at my pace. Very user friendly. The app and the tuner work well together. Would buy again. I was using my phone app but I wanted to be able to have my head in the right direction while holding the violin and read the music. The phone was getting in the way too much. ... show more

  • Mostly fine, but stupid button design
I actually already had a nice KORG clip-on tuner for my guitar, the only reason I bought this one is because there is no convenient way to clip that one to my viola. I'm a little disappointed in this one because because the clip is smaller than I expected and I have to open it almost all the way just to get it to fit on the peg box. It feels like it barely fits. However, it has not popped off yet so maybe it will be fine. It is nice that it is so small and light. I have been able to leave it clipped on the instrument all the time, even when I put the instrument back in the case. As other reviewers have said, making the power button also function as a tuning adjustment is just stupid. Several times already I have bumped it to A 441 and have had to cycle through to get back to A 440. I expect most users will need to adjust this rarely if at all, so it should be harder to change accidentally. Another issue is that when I have it in viola mode when I try to tune my D string sometimes it identifies the note as A. If I switch from viola to chromatic setting, then it recognizes the D ok. ... show more

  • Great little tuner
It's easy to use and very accurate. I do recommend clipping it to the bridge for the best result.

  • Doesnt fit well on violin peg box
The photo shows this clipping nicely on the violin peg box. In practice, it doesn't fit well around the pegs and worse, it slips off the box. Most peg boxes taper toward the top, and the clips of this tuner simply slide off. Pop! it flies somewhere, leaving me to reach for my guitar tuner which is not perfect, but clips on the scroll and works fine. ... show more

  • Nice!
The device is set up for violin, viola, cello, or ‘chromatic’ - which means you can use it to tune everything from a bowed instrument to a banjo to a flute. Easy to use and it seems durable, so kids could use this, too. It also came with a battery and an EXTRA battery, which I appreciated. Playing in tune is critical - this will help any student. You can also set it ar 440hz or choose from a range from 430 to 450hz, it isn’t automatically going to just give you a 440 tuning and nothing else - this feature is useful if you are playing historical instruments, or trying to match up with instruments tuned a bit over or under 440. ... show more

  • Perfect, compact, portable, easy to use.
The media could not be loaded. This little tuner is so awesome. You just put it on the end of the violin on the scroll and you play the string and you can easily see if it is flat or sharp. Its small and not bulky. Its accurate too. My daughter's teacher was inpressed on how her violin was ready to go and we didnt have to waste time tuning. For the proce it is amazing. Not aure about others. It also came with an extra battery. ... show more

  • Did not work
Bought to help tune my childs violin between lessons. It is cheaply made and kept falling to the side when placed on the violin. The device did not function as attended. The instructions assumed we already understood how to use. The notes were picking up off. Used with my childs violin teacher and he confirmed that the device was not giving the right note. I returned the device. ... show more
