If this installed properly, I'd think it was pretty good. The flap is sturdy and seems weatherproof. But for the price, the kit should be MUCH MUCH better than it is. The materials are nothing special, certainly not obviously superior (other than the flap itself) to the $35 door we put in last time. And if you're going to charge an exorbitant price, the parts should FIT PROPERLY and not be hard to install. The side aluminum pieces had to be cut lengthwise to fit the wall, which was a pain (for the price, you'd think they could give you metal pieces in at least a couple different widths for different width walls), but after my husband went through all the work of cutting them to the proper width, it became clear that lengthwise they were the wrong size for the Large door, nearly an inch too long, so the tabs on the horizontal piece couldn't pass through the holes in the vertical pieces. My husband, who is VERY handy and VERY precise, struggled for ten freakin' hours to try to make it all work. Since we now had a hole in our wall and couldn't wait several days to get the right part shipped, he had to cut the vertical metal sheets in half and trim one to make the tabs and holes line up. Now there's raw cut metal sticking out where the dogs walk through. Hopefully the company will ship us the right size, but then my husband will have to disassemble it all to put the right size parts in. Seriously, if you want to charge that price, GET THE PARTS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Buyers, I recommend that you buy a much cheaper door. I think it would be easier to manage, and would probably work just about as well. ... show more

Definitely consider this product for your pet door needs. Excellent product! Excellent, responsive seller. Even a follow up call to confirm all is right with the world. Five stars but not without issues. Ordered two of this item in April last year for new construction. Of course, now it is February 2019 and we're finally installing. One box is perfect - all parts match. The second box, a different story. The frame and flap are the correct size, however, the aluminum wall liner is a size small - 4 inches shorter than the opening and the frame/flap. Again, unopened box. Update: Fantastic Seller! Very responsive; corrected the problem immediately. Definitely recommend this product and seller! Definitely would order from this seller again. ... show more

I reviewed several different higher end dog doors before selecting this one. The videos provided by endura-flap made the install process seem fairly straightforward, but it turns out there are many install steps that were not well-described. Overall, I am happy with the dog door now that it is installed, but I would have expected a lot more polish in the install for something that was $300+. In general, I did appreciate the video instructions, though they were a bit lacking with regards to how to handle various exterior features. They did not provide instructions on how to mount this with (uneven) exterior siding, so I ended up having to patiently cut a little at a time. As someone who isn't particularly handy, I wasn't totally comfortable with the whole install process, but I found it was very important to make sure you have all the tools they recommend. Having never tried to cut a hole this big in a wall (exterior or interior), it was also important to check that there is no electrical/plumbing/studs in the way before ordering. I luckily did not have to cut the sheet metal wall inserts as my wall was ~8" thick, but I found that the recommendations on cutting the bolts down to size was not very accurate. I played it safe and just cut them a little at a time, but I think it would have been much nicer if they just included some extra bolts of different lengths. Also, they have captive nuts in the door frames that attach to the bolt and I found the bolts impossible to install with 1 person, and very difficult still with 2 people. During the install a few of the captive nuts popped off, and I couldn't find them, but Endura flap sent replacements fairly quickly, which was appreciated. However, I couldn't help but think there was so many better ways to have the bolt "catch" the hole than what they did. ... show more

As a former cabinet maker and mill worker I believe that some very critical instructions for the door are not addressed and caused me to have build up the thickness, creating a less that ideal installation for me and our dog. All I can say is good luck; I contacted the sellers to fix this but got no comment back. As I was annoyed I left a less than stellar review on their web site but it hasn't appeared. As they show only excellent reviews it makes you wonder if others may have been mislead or disappointed. I'm giving a critical review because I expect more from a product and a manufacturer. ... show more

Excellent dog door. I hired a contractor to install it and I recommend that. He said it was a little tricky but that it's also a premium dog door as far as quality, materials, and function. I bought the single flap door since I live in the Pacific Northwest and it doesn't get terribly cold most of the year. For my dog I felt this would be better too. He's very timid. It has been a process to teach him to use the door. At first my husband and I would each be on opposite sides of door and holding the flap open would give treats for going through and little by little lower the flap more so he could feel it on his back. After about 3 days I start gently pushing him through the flap so he'd see he could do it. Finally yesterday with lots of encouragement he came from outside in to me on his own. Lots of treats and praise and he was so proud!! Ha! Great door, love that it doesn't let much cold air in and it's about 25 degrees right now. Happy even my timid dog is able to learn to use it. ... show more
