  • Great Dog Door
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: Large Flap (10" x 18")
I did a lot of research on dog doors and different solutions. After ruling out putting a permanent dog door the hunt began for a slider dog door insert. There are several different types and I ruled those out because they were not very weather resistant or were aluminum (I don't want frost on the frame in the winter). We live in the Northeast and get the heat on the deck in the summer and LOTS of snow in the winter so we were aiming for something that will stand the snow, wind, nor'esters and heat off the deck. We have a vinyl sliding door and I was afraid that putting a dog door insert was going to degrade the energy efficiency of my sliding door so I went with this door. Even though it's a bit more on the expensive side I think it was worth the extra $$. The look of it is beautiful, it fits wonderfully in with my sliding door. We did trim a piece of the door off that was recommended by the manufacturer, otherwise the door wouldn't have fit. I noticed the measurements on the door didn't take into account a 'larger' overstep or overhand from the top of the track, I didn't anticipate having to trim the door but I was happy that was an option (I don't think I saw that it was an option in case I needed to do it while I was shopping initially). I do notice that the floor gets warmer because of the sunlight shining on it than my regular door. I should say, however, that our normal sliding glass door has been replaced recently and is on the high end of energy efficiency, I think it's a Pella door. The insert did come with insulation for either side of the door, just a normal piece of foam with adhesive on both sides. Another piece of door seal that wasn't in the instructions came with the door and doesn't indicate where to install it, there's only enough for one side of the door - we haven't installed that but will eventually and it looks like it will help a lot with air leakage. We bought the 'Large', there's enough room for our 90lb golden to get through comfortably. Our smaller dog also uses the door, she's older and about 40lbs. She has been using her paw to get through the door since the magnets are so strong but is slowly getting the hang of putting her head down and opening the door. It's been about 1.5 weeks and we really love the door. My best suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make some kind of training video to help new dog door owners get through this door. We are new dog door owners and I think it would have been helpful to get some advice from a video since my dogs are gentle and maybe a little more timid when it comes to putting their faces in a dog door to make it open, especially one with strong magnets. ... show more

  • Holds up against the wind
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: XL Flap (12" x 22")
I live in Michigan it can get pretty cold and windy. These flaps have great magnets that hold them in place during harsh winds. There is no leaky wind coming in around the door or flaps. This was worth the money; my dogs are so happy they can go in and out when they want and we don't have to worry about when we will be home after work. ... show more

  • weatherproof
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: Medium Flap (8" x 14")
This left gaps between the edge of the door and my sliding glass door not a good fit.

  • Works great
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: Large Flap (10" x 18")
The media could not be loaded. My dog can go outside and come in as often and at anytime he wants.

  • Spent $700 for a damaged dog door
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: XL Flap (12" x 22")
So first off my wife and I liked that this product was rated for severe weather and we live in rural Montana. We bit the bullet and paid $700, give or take a penny, and bought this dog door. Starting off strong it showed up damaged and wouldn't install in the sliding glass door completely or correctly (see first photo). This was probably due to the fact that it was packed in a flimsy cardboard box with absolutely NO foam padding except a thin layer at each corner. Secondly, the width of this door is so massive that it made our sliding glass door unusable. Once it was installed we realized that we were only going to have about 10 inches of opening to get through. This doesn't work for us because the sliding glass door is our main entrance and exit from the house. We will be returning this and going with a different product from a different company. ... show more

  • Not the best quality for a high price.
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: Large Flap (10" x 18")
I was hoping for a better product for $630. The window seal does not seal, there must be a defect at the left upper corner. I can feel cold air coming in at this area of the window.

  • Excellent for sliding glass doors
Pattern Name: 77.25" - 80.25" Slider Height Size: XL Flap (12" x 22")
The quality of this doggie door surpassed our expectations! It was worth the money to have something so well-made. We live in the mountains, so blustery weather is normal, but the weatherstripping provided decent insulation from drafts. Our Siberian Husky ADORES his door to the deck! FYI, we removed a couple of the extra magnets to make the door a little easier to push open- it’s still plenty strong, and it always closes. So pleased with this door...highly recommend! ... show more

  • Good product, but the magnets were a little strong
Pattern Name: 74.75" - 77.75" Slider Height Size: XL Flap (12" x 22")
Good product, but the magnets were a little strong and my dog wouldn’t use the door. Took a few out and she now uses it. Some air gets through, but not too bad.
