You need to keep in mind how high off the ground the pet door will be installed; this space between the ground and the bottom of the flap is called the Step Over. The Step Over should be as low as possible for your dog to go through comfortably, this will make it easier for your pet as they get older. The Distance from the Floor to the Top of the Flap should be at least 1" higher than the tallest point of your pet's back. Step Over + Flap Height = At least 1" higher than the tallest point of pet's back. We recommend replicating the dimensions of your planned pet door installation on cardboard and seeing if your pet can comfortably go through it. • Excellent for Cold Weather
Size: Medium Flap (8" x 14") Color: White
Well built, high quality doggy door for extreme climates. Keeps the cold out. Love the magnets in the flaps to "lock" it back to position and seal the weather out. The two flaps work together nicely to keep the drafts out. Installed in Philly where it can get into the 0F range at times. Fairly straightforward to install, just used the template, a drill, and jigsaw to open the hole in the door. I used some insulation foam inside as I cut the hole a little larger than needed. Also, I cut a couple of pieces of 1/2 square trim to fill in the gaps on top where the decorative door panels recess from the center. Getting Bandit to learn how to use it, I showed him how the flaps open when you push. Put some treats on the outside of the door and held the flap open for him. Did that a few times until he was comfortable with that, then put the treats outside and told him to go out. He was hesitant at first, but quickly got used to it. Now can tell him "go out - potty!" and he will head outside on his own. ... show more

  • Great, until you have to replace the entire human door.
Size: XL Flap (12" x 22") Color: White
So, after almost two years with this pet door, I have some complaints. The major one is that it lets in water. Not into the house--inside the door. No matter how I've tried to seal it, repeatedly, with silicone, the inside of the pet door leaks. When it rains, water trickles inside between the flaps, and despite the metal "seals" that are supposed to keep water out of the interior of my door (where the foam core is) water gets in there. My human door is now rotting from the inside out, and the door frame has started to rot as well. So, I love the dog door, but I would only install it on a covered porch where it can't be hit with rain. Now I have to pay $1500 to replace the human door, all because I bought a $600 pet door that we won't be able to use anymore. Not very happy about that. Also, that part on the bottom of the door that holds in the magnets, which broke before? Yeah, it broke again. Plus the very very sharply cornered magnets got stuck to the doggie door frame when the flap part broke off. And my greyhound scraped his knee open on the sharp corners of the magnet. :( One final this--it's definitely loud. If it weren't for the other issues, I'd just put up with the loudness because it keeps the cold out so well. But, I wouldn't want it in my living room... ------------ Old review: Fantastic—keeps the cold out just as well as the rest of the door, so no complaints! Had to encourage the dogs to learn to use it, because it doesn’t require some force to break the magnet seals. But once they figured out the magical outdoors was on the other side they were happy to bash their faces through it all day long. Had a part of the door pop out of the edge frame/magnet frame bit, and had to smash that back together. Seems to be holding up, though! 3 months and counting. ... show more

  • Expensive but it works!
Size: Large Flap (10" x 18") Color: White
Ok, so this is an expensive door for the dogs (2 large size), as it cost more than our full size door. We installed a 36"x80" half lite door at the same time we got the large size dog door. We might have been able to get by with just the single flap dog door, however, we have inside cats that I wanted to make sure wouldn't get out. We've had it installed about a month now and the cats have yet to go out through the door. I do not foresee them being able to get out through this door as it takes some effort to open. The dogs go through without issue, one faster than the other. Overall, it was worth the expense. Looks like it is well made and will last awhile. ... show more

  • Does the job.
Size: Large Flap (10" x 18") Color: White
This is a fantastic dog door that we had installed by a handyman. It appeared as though the install was not “smooth.” Definitely hire at a flat rate if you pay someone to install. It has been holding up great the past 6 months. I have taken out a few of the magnetic inserts as our ~50 lbs dog applies a reasonable amount of force to get in and out. We live in an area that regularly sees 80 mph wind gusts and below freezing temps. I never feel like heat is escaping or cold air is coming in. It has been worth the price, that we were quite uneasy about at time of purchase. ... show more

  • Works exactly as we need it to!
Size: XL Flap (12" x 22") Color: White
We have a tall 90# Weim; he fits through with room to spare. It took him a few days to get used to the door being there, and a few more days to venture through it, but now he breezes through without a thought. We live in the Houston, TX area, it is hot and humid, with mosquitoes galore. We have paid careful attention: hot and cold air are are not moving through this door when it is closed, and it closes quickly enough that bugs don't seem to make it through. The cost of this door was higher than we wanted to spend, but the positive reviews and guarantees sold us on it, and we are not disappointed! The translucence is nice, too, it lets a little extra light in. ... show more

  • Endura's held up to 3 big dogs for 10 yrs.
Size: XL Flap (12" x 22") Color: Bronze
We got our 1st Endura door 10 yrs ago for 3 big dogs. It's still fine but we bought a 2nd house so needed a 2nd Endura door. Our dogs weigh 50-80 lbs. They give a big energetic jump at it because they are playful & think their petdoor is a toy. What else needs to be said. I do wish they would make the security covers match the frames. It would look so much better! The security cover is very strong for good security. Our 10 yr old cover still snaps into place perfectly every night! ... show more

  • Good thermal barrier
Size: Medium Flap (8" x 14") Color: White
Positive: Door frame is sturdy Flaps are thick Seals tight and keeps the wind out Negative : The magnet is easily ripped off if your dog paws at the door. That means the seal is no longer as effective. The magnet is clipped to the bottom of the flap by a plastic part that is much thicker then the flap. ... show more

  • Well Worth the Extra Money
Size: Large Flap (10" x 18") Color: White
I bought this almost four years ago, so you could say it's been given a good test through four nasty Utah winters and three hot summers used by at least one big Labrador, and usually some of his friends as well. Before buying it I was a bit put off by the price-- three times that of the many cheaper dog doors I've been through over the years. But it was worth it- this one lasts and lasts, still keeps out the cold and the heat as well as it did the day it was installed. Not like the cheaper models. I highly recommend it. About the only downside is the loud "snap" it makes when the dog enters or leaves, but I have gotten used to that. ... show more
