The molds took practice but the resin worked out. I basically used leftover resin from my other pours to fill the chess ♟️ pieces. I suppose I’ll experiment with a wood foundation when I pour the chessboard.

nice set of molds to make the chess pieces. you do have to be really careful to get all the bubbles out, especially with the top of the bishop and rook. watch for bubbles with the checkers and board molds too. some of the chess molds were not fully round at the bottom, (probably due to just the way any mold would warp due to it laying on its side) but its not really noticeable in the final product. it was a pain in the butt to remove the molds when it was done, especially the king. work slowly and get someone with smaller fingers to help! 1 cup of epoxy was enough to fill one color of the chess pieces, the checkers pieces, and just enough to fill a thin layer of color for the board. maybe make a little bit over 1 cup of epoxy resin, just to thicken the color of the squares on the board. 2 more cups of clear epoxy resin was enough to finish the board, so you'll need a little over 4 cups total to complete a set of chess and checkers pieces, plus a board. my daughter can't wait to make another set! ... show more

The molds for the pieces are good to very good with the exception of the queen mold. It is very difficult to demold the piece without damaging the mold. The board mold is way too thin. Even after using a good amount of mold release prior to pouring, three areas where the squares are poured ripped. I'll have to replace the board mold now. Update: Seller contacted me directly and offered a refund. Quite unexpected and resolved the situation completely. Overall rating improved. ... show more

The chess pieces are difficult to remove. As others have said drip some baby oil or coconut oil in and massage it on down to get the mold to release. I’ve seen others talk about the smallness regarding depth of the squares. Yes, they aren’t that deep so just use a small paper cup or similar so you have control over the pour. As for adding the second color, there is no need to try to fill the squares adjacent to those you just poured. Let the first dry and then Simply pour the second color on the back. It will fill in the second set of holes. So what if the back is all one color. Work smarter, not harder. ... show more

Came with everything seen in photo and easy to use, I would definitely recommend watching videos on how to seal up the top and how much resin to use to make a full set with the board so you do not run out while making a set with it. Would have used zero stars but couldnt leave a review without selecting. Used it for the first time and the shape did not hold. When I went to demold it, it tore pieces off and stuck to the piece. It's the same resin I've used hundreds of times and never had a problem with, but this mold I will never use agin. ... show more
