  • Noisy
Size: IDCF9 Style: Cooktop
Inductions do make a noise and specific pots help but it's pretty loud. Came damaged. Had to get another. The glass isn't as scratch resistant as it should be. I'm using silicon mattes to protect it now. The painted design isn't consistent. The 1st one I got I could hardly see the painted buttons etc. Works great for the price. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for.
Size: 30 Inch Style: Cooktop
I'm giving 5 stars because it does what it claims, if I had paid what is typical for induction it would be 3. To start - you get what you pay for. It's a cheap induction that functions really well. It's a bit smaller than typical electric cooktop untis so if you have granite and your switching to this be prepared to do some upgrades. What I did was install 1/4" flat stock steel plates on 2 sides of my existing opening and held them in place with 4400 psi epoxy. After that the unit fit in perfectly and I caulked it in place to make sure it was snug and didn't move. They tell you to not caulk the unit as it needs to be removalable for service but I guess they don't know what a razor is and how easily it can be removed. It takes 10 minutes to boil 1 gallon of water in a large stock pot. Each coil is exactly the same size regardless of what burner you use which is a bit frustrating. The only difference between the burners is amount of power that can be allocated to each. Cast iron is your friend in this instance and if you want to have the entire surface of a 12" cast iron pan hot you'll need to use boost for a few minutes then lower the temp to allow the heat to disperse to the entire pan. This is not normal.. I have a high end bertazzoni and each coil is designed for the specific burner. Once again you get what you pay for. I'm not sure if this is normal but our unit has a slight hot electronics smell when cooking. Maybe this is because it's been installed less than 24 hours but it's enough to be slightly alarming. I have a full open cabinet beneath and tons of ventilation so I know it's nothing to do with that. If this is your first induction range be prepared for a learning curve and a small investment of higher end cookware. The following work really well.. Cast iron All-clad Carbon steel The following suck Cheaply made metal alloys. The following won't work Aluminum Glass cookware You'll save a bit on power but not how you think.. induction units use the same wattage as traditional electric ranges but it takes a lot less time to heat up. Which is another thing.. your cooking habits will change. No more start the pan and then start chopping up whatever your cooking. Now you'll prep before turning the pan on.. hence the 20% of power savings most induction ranges claim. Be ready for the noise. Most inductions (my bertazzoni excluded) make a hum/hiss noise when cooking. This is from the reaction of the metal cookware itself. Some higher end ranges have figured out how to minimize this but this range makes no attempt to. You can reduce it yourself by using cast iron.. the heavier the better.. ... show more

  • Good Value
Size: 30 Inch Style: Cooktop
Works as expected. Wish it came with one non-induction burner for the occasional non-magnetic pot/pan. Small micro nubs on surface keeps cleaning to a soft cloth or paper towel. Hard to wipe off without leaving streaks.

  • Works well but with frustrating issues
Size: 36 Inch Style: Cooktop
The unit works well as an induction stove top but i would actually suggest if you can to but a more expensive unit from a better known provider. Why is that? there are three niggles with how this operates. 1) Each "burner" times out too quickly (goes into error status) if you remove the pot or pan from the surface to pour some off or set aside while adding an ingredient to the pan. This requires fiddling around with the controls to get it back into operation mode. The work around is to drop the power level which to allow a modicum of time to pulle thge pot/pan before replacing it on the burner wo going into "E". 2) On low setting it seems this is really only pulsing the power at a variable rate, not really a "low" setting as i have experiences on other induction stoves i have used. 3) The controls require starting on the main control (not burner control unit) before you can engage one of the separate burners. This multi step process while no onerous is just making what should be a one step process a multi step process. 4) The controls being centrally located are sensitive to inadvertent touches which sometimes shut off the unit in use. So one must be careful while cooking to avoid careless running a hand or such over the centrally located controls. Again this is something i have not experienced in other induction stoves i have used. Note, we moved to a new location and purchased this to replace a gas stove top. I opted for the less expensive unit and am now wondering if i made the right choice give these annoyance. Still as an induction stove top it works well. Just with adjustments. ... show more

  • Fantastic!
Size: 30 Inch Style: Cooktop
I am so happy with this induction cook top. I've only had a chance to use it 4 times, but it heats so much more quickly than my old coils and without the loss of heat to the room like when using gas. And in Texas, that's a big deal when cooking in summer time. I was not quite sure how happy I would be using induction and I did have to get an entire new set of pots and pans, but that investment is well worth the ease of using this item. One thing of concern is the small lip under the surface where liquids and small items like grains of salt can get. There is a seal to keep things from seeping to the drawer under the cook top, but I don't know how well it will actually keep out liquids. So far, it's easy enough to clean by sliding a towel under to sweep items out. I have a new quartz counter top, so maybe it won't be difficult in the end. The best part of switching to this cook top is I can now have a drawer under it. A full drawer the same depth as the others in the kitchen. With my old cook top, that was not possible. ... show more

  • Better than I thought!
Size: 12 Inch Style: Cooktop
Very easy to install! Remember it’s induction so not all pans work! But it will let you know with a code “E1” so keep the instruction manual. I used mine for a rv remodel! It’s perfect.
