  • A highly recommended futon!
I feel that this futon needs an actual review. I have slept on this futon for about 3 weeks now and I tell you what, it is as comfortable as any mattress I've had that is fairly firm. BACKGROUND ON ME: I slept on a brick for a mattress for 8 months and then a ridiculously soft mattress for 2 weeks after that prior to sleeping on this futon and sleeping on a soft mattress killed my back but I became accustomed to it quickly. I was moving into a very small space and since I'm in college I'll be moving at least once or twice more, and one of those possibly being overseas so compactness and versatility is definitely necessary. MY SLEEP EXPERIENCE: Having adjusted to a soft mattress prior to sleeping on this meant that I was definitely in for an adjustment period. It didn't take very long to adjust to it and I still find myself sleeping on my side and it's no less comfortable than sleeping on my back or stomach, though this is likely due to the fact that I have a firm side-sleeping pillow. I find myself getting very restful sleep and as much as I'm afraid of bugs, since you need to take good care of the flooring you place the futon on I don't feel concerned about bugs. FUTON QUALITY: It's very thick, I think I would've had issues sleeping on my side had I purchased the Rococo version of this futon. It's very nice thick cotton and it folds very easily, especially since it came folded in the package it arrived in. Even though it folds, there's really no noticeable fold flattening where the cotton kind of thins because its been folded so many times. YOUR OPTIONS: So there are other options on the futon market, there's the J-life shiki-futon which in my opinion looks like the cotton is going to flatten out or get all moved around inside and become bumpy in places. The Tuft & Needle mattress, I feel, can no longer be listed as a futon mattress, it is far to wide to fold and was never really meant to be a tri-fold mattress of any sort. I can easily see this futon mattress from EMOOR lasting several years if not many if you take care of it right (If I remember it, I'll come back at a later date and update how the quality is holding up). MY OPINION: I spent almost 4 months trying to determine what/which futon mattress to buy because I knew I wanted to move either cross-country or across the world and with a futon I could take it with me more easily than a traditional mattress. It also makes moving apartments way easier! All that being said, I think if you're set on buying a futon because they're just awesome and space-saving, save yourself the time and frustration of decision-making and get this. I feel like I'm sleeping more restfully now because I'm not sleeping on a mattress that is a brick but also not sleeping on jello. PS: It will say that it's going to take a month to arrive or longer but EMOOR used expedited international shipping so I got it in just under 2 weeks. Below is the mattress cover I purchased, it's more expensive than a normal fitted sheet but it has a zipper closure and is very nice, it has a wonderful clean cotton-y feel and keeps both sides of my futon off the floor and more resistant to any mites or bacteria on the floor. • Happy customer
Size: Queen (63x79in) Style: Standard
I am very happy with this purchase. I wake up less stiff with this futon. My futon is on top of yoga mats (for added cushion) and a tatami bed frame. A comfortable sleep. Quality futon.

  • Good for back sleepers
Size: Queen (63x79in) Style: Standard
This is a futon, meaning you will be sleeping on the ground. However, this does not mean it is uncomfortable. If you are a back sleeper, you will love sleeping on this futon. It gives perfect support while keeping the stiffness of the floor. It does not sink in like a mattress on a frame would over time. Unfortunately this means that side sleeping is a big more difficult. You will probably need some more layers on top of it, or some supporting pillows. Regardless, this futon will store conveniently as it folds up nicely. We purchased the cover from here as well, and it fits perfectly. This is a great, cheaper alternative to a mattress. ... show more

  • The product itself seems well made and is nice and soft to the touch
I received this 5 days ago with the purpose of alleviating SI joint pain that flared up a week ago. The product itself seems well made and is nice and soft to the touch. The thickness truly is about 2 inches not 3 as stated on the description. I place it on 2 exercise/yoga mats so it's not directly on the floor when in use. I wanted the thick tatami mat but they are pricey and I'm not sure about how to maintain them. I like things washable like the thick yoga mats. I initially purchased an inexpensive IKEA twin cover set but it is entirely too big for it so I ended up purchasing the cover they sell specifically for this mattress. It's light enough to pick up and move around or put away. BTW there is no odor to the mattress once unpacked. It was a huge difference waking up in the morning compared to my "western" extra soft mattress. I stayed cooler while asleep and my back/body was thankful the next morning. My chest felt clear and open to breathing. Previously on the old bed, I would wake up achy all over, tired, worn down and my body felt like it did not want to wake up. With this mattress, I felt like a new person. It has slowly helped my SI flare up as well. I took a nap on my old bed one afternoon and woke up exhausted...it's crazy! I guess my spine really needed some help and this mattress did it. This bed is meant for a person to sleep on their back which takes a bit of getting used to as I am a side sleeper but give it a few days and prop your knees with a pillow to help with the transition but it really does affect your posture awareness. You also have to find a pillow that will suit you while lying on your back. Start with a rolled towel before purchasing pillows. It will give you an idea of the proper support you require while asleep. ... show more

  • A purchase you won't regret
Size: Twin (39x79in) Style: Standard with Cover (Gray)
My only regret is not purchasing this sooner. I've been contemplating purchasing one of these for a while to replace the improvised collection of mattress topper + blankets I sometimes use when I want to sleep in front of the TV in the cooler basement during the summer. I actually ended up taking this with me on an extended trip (I also bought the Andacar carrying bag to go with it), where I've been happily using it as a bed for a few weeks. It's currently sitting on top of a cheap $20 air mattress (in place of a real Tatami mat), and this combination is more comfortable than my regular mattress at home. It is also highly portable (car-portable, not hiking-portable), whether using it for yourself on a road trip, or as an additional guest bed. In short, this is suitable as your primary bed, a guest bed, or a road-trip bed. Just be sure to get a carrying case for travel/longer-term storage. You will need a soft surface or mat to put it on (carpet alone is not enough), with a cheap air mattress (which is never comfortable on it's own) filling that role perfectly. ... show more
