I use my journal to take notes in during church. When you open the journal, I find the left side to be sturdy enough that I can make notes without the page or binding curling. This notebook has a nice hard fake leather shell and good quality card stock inside. I don't think pens will bleed through when I use it but I don't plan to use sharpies or anything thicker, just in case. I am happy with the purchase and looking forward to using it.
