  • Touchscreen FREQUENTLY requires annoying reset due to static electricity from my hand
Owned for almost 2 years. Can’t explain why I put up with it. The major problem: touchscreen is extremely sensitive to static electricity. If I wanted to temporarily raise or lower the temperature setting, despite precautionary discharge of static electricity on a nearby doorknob, the screen would freeze upon my touch more than half the time. The only way to unfreeze it is to remove it from wall plate, remove batteries for 10 minutes, and reset (per the instructions that came with the thermostat). What a hassle. I replaced it with a Honeywell that cost less than half the price and now have full functionality without touchscreen problems. • Check out these cool stats
I have been working with heating and air conditioning for over 20 years. I've dealt with many programmable stats before. Many of which can be non user friendly and difficult to see. But I have fallen in love with these stats. The large screen with blue backlighting and ability to pull from wall to set dwn to program makes this very easy to setup and work with. One feature that sets theses apart is that you can password lock ur set program schedule but allow people to temporarily adjust temp within ur set parameters. This is a feature that only this stat has without going to wifi stats. Which are expensive, require apps, not user friendly to all, and require separate wifi modules ($100 or more.) I have searched and called Honeywell, Lux etc and verified this. I wanted a stat that anyone could simply change the temp manually with only a touch. Have installed 6 at our church and have saved in utilities. ... show more

  • Am very happy with this non-wifi thermostat
Am very happy with this non-wifi thermostat. As my old White Rodgers thermostat failed, I had to have two heating guys figure out how to rewire my furnace system to come up with the new 'C` wire. Actually the furnace guy could not figure that out, I had to hire a thermostat specialist. OK, got the C wire. Tried a wi-fi Honeywell unit with a wi-fi remote sensor. I cannot begin to tell you my bad experience with that. The remote wi-fi sensor did work, but had so much 'intelligence' built into it that it was useless. All I needed was the sensor to REPORT back to the thermostat. I could put the sensor outside the window in 40 degree air and it would take an hour for the sensor to slowly increment it's reporting down to 40 degrees to the thermostat unit. OK I dumped the useless Honeywell and installed this Emerson unit myself, knowing what all the wires were from /to the furnace system. I installed it with an Emerson WIRED remote sensor. The manual was OK, good even... Any questions I had were answered by the VERY helpful Emerson help line. ... show more

  • Simple, looks nice on the wall, easy to use, excellent simple features
I now own two of these thermostats. Very happy with the features. It does have a lot of programming features but it doesn't have features that I will never use. The price is reasonable. It has a lot of setup features which I love. You can calibrate the temperature if you need to. You can set it up with the back light on or set it up it so the back light comes on when you touch the screen. I like the feature if you change the temperature it will go back to the programmed temperature after 4 hours or you can touch "hold" and the new temperature setting will stay until you hit "run program" to make it go back to the original programmed temperature. Has more features but these are my favorite features. Excellent not to complicated thermostat. ... show more

  • It works
Install is easy. Setup takes 5 minutes after fumbling for 3. In auto mode, when the unit is not in use for xx minutes or hours (I forget), it turns the fan on (without heat or air) so that you keep the air cycling through your house. This is a cool feature. I would like to control the time duration because it goes on alittle too frequently for my taste. I also wish it had a vacation mode so you can just hit one button and it drops to Heat On at 50F for example. Then when you come home, just vacation OFF, and it reverts to your saved schedule. Perhaps i need to study more but that's my feedback... It's worth it. ... show more
