    • Some advantages and disadvantages compared to print edition
I have subscribed to the print edition for 20+ years. With the digital edition, it reduces the clutter in my house and the Kindle app makes it easy to sync across multiple devices so the magazine is available to read anytime and anywhere and unlike the print edition it doesn't occasionally get lost by the Post Office. The digital edition is less the $1 more expensive per year than the print edition and the order of the stories is not exactly the same since the Black Mask, Dept of First Stories, and Passport to Crime are separate sections instead of having those stories mixed in with all the other stories. The advantage of the print edition is that if it gets lost or left behind; or you are in an envirionment where liquids can easily spill on your electronic devices you are out less money. ... show more

    • Howling at the Moon
I am sorry to admit I only purchased the November issue when I heard my favorite author had a short story in this magazine. I did read Paul D. Marks, 'Howling at the Moon' and was not disappointed. I can see why a popular magazine would choose to have Mr. Marks write a short story for their magazine, I just don't understand why he isn't a regular? I would be a subscriber if that were the case. Once again, Mr. Marks did not let me down with his amazing writing skills and nail biting suspense. I couldn't put my Kindle down! It's typical, once I start, I have to know the end of his short stories. Mr. Marks puts a different spin on your typical American Indian in the desert stories and takes you for a short trip on the twisted side of treasure hunting on sacred grounds. ... show more

Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine gets five stars from me! Why? It is a wonderful, easy read from old school writers to new age. I love the mix of mystery, mayhem and page turning excitement. My favorite is reading this magazine with a hot cup of tea first thing in the morning and last thing I do before I retire. I am always pleasantly amazed with the variety of writers that mystify me.     • enjoying short stories for a quiet time
I did enjoy the Ellery Queen magazine it was one fun read with lots of short stories. Only thing I didn't like was there wasn't to many mystries based stories. For the most part they where cute, fun and a good read. Some stories could have been shorter or not a all and some could have been long. It is a good thing to have for a quick reading while you wait some where or at night when You just want a quiet read. Good to see it again like a old friend, good to see again and spend some time with. ... show more

Good stories. Need to buy the hard copy next time. I discovered I don't really like reading mysteries on a tablet. No fault of the item.

    • Not quite what it used to be
I was an avid reader of the printed EQMM 20-30 years ago. Somehow it doesn't seem quite as good in the digital Kindle format. Still has good stories but it seems harder to move around within the magazine.

I used to buy this magazine when I was a teenager those many years ago. I thought it had disappeared until I found it through Amazon. Still a great read. Wish it had more by known authors. The availability on line is a great value but it requires some skill to magnify and orient for readability.

    • Subscriber for decades
This is a fascinating magazine with a total variety of mystery stories, covering many styles of writing. Often, the editors even find humorous stories to include. The stories span eras from early Greece to modern times, and areas all around the world, including some translations. Very entertaining. I have been a devoted reader, either as a subscriber or newsstand buyer since I had a dime or two available to spend. ... show more
