I store my 14 ft. canoe on supports behind our woodshed, whose roof partially overhangs the canoe. The cover is easy to put on and take off and does a fine job of shielding the canoe from pine needles, UV rays, insects and precipitation. However, there is excess fabric around the girth and rain water collects inside the cover. l solved that problem by punching a small hole in the cover so the water can drain out. My first urge - as I was unpacking - was to give this cover a score of "1". However, I simply cannot slam, dent, ding or otherwise criticize a product, when the fault is mine. Lemme explain. Bought my dream kayak - outfitted about 92% with A-1 equipment, on a trailer ... that has overhead racks to carry .. more toys. Anyway, Life got in the way before I had a chance to use/abuse it, and the kayak/trailer have been in a buddy's garage since September. September 2022 is also when I purchased this cover. Fast Forward to last week - July 1 2023. Kayak out of storage, learning to utilize the tech and hardware and felt the need to cover my baby up. Grab the unopened Amazon package and proceed to make an attempt to apply the cover. Hmmm something seems odd .... look up the cover on Amazon and discovered that I had NOT paid any attention to the ad/listing prior to purchasing. I was mistakenly under the assumption that laid over the kayak and tied underneath. Nope, not even close. This cover is a tube that your boat fits IN to, and is zippered closed. The zippered opening is about 6 feet long. Now, this may be ok for *some* kayaks .. perhaps those 8-10 foot long plastic ones. But, there is No Way my Hobie PA-14 kayak is going to slip inside this product, without rigging up a hoist to lift the kayak out of the trailer and place it on some sawhorses. NOW, this cover appears to be very well made and unlike most man-made materials, this one is odorless. It even comes in a nice net bag, that will become a bag on your boat because you will never get the cover folded small enough to put it back in the bag. ... show more

Seems very solid and nice, but it's huge on my kayak. I'm storing it in my shed and just didn't want spiders nesting in it, so I think it'll work great. But it's definitely really baggy on a kayak.

I store my Saranac 146 outside, upside down and on sawhorses. I've never been worried about water intrusion (since it's inverted), but nesting wasps and stinkbugs are a problem except during the coldest part of Winter. Finding a full storage bag that fits properly has always been a problem - finding a way to securely "tuck" the excess fabric at the end and at the mid-point is impossible with winds. This bag is so large that I have a couple of feet at the ends, and 1.5 ft at the mid-point (even MORE excess towards the bow and stern). Since my last one only survived 2 seasons before it oxidized and started to rip everywhere, I'll probably remove it when the cold kills the bugs. My last cover was ALSO advertised as "WaterPROOF" - and (based on other reviews) I guess I'll be facing that problem again in the Spring. I'd love to find a bag with tight mesh to keep the bugs out, but also let water flow out, and one that better fits a 14.5 ft canoe (15 total overall) with 36" gunwales, without spending hundreds of dollars. Overall, knowing the problems I'll face/overcome/work around, I still think this is a good bag. ... show more

At the price, and advertised as 'waterproof' - it failed the first rain. I put it on my canoe, and it let water seep inside and pool down in the canvas. Nowbto be fair - the pooled water wasn't dripping out - but it let the water in to begin with. Otherwise, it seems fine.

The cover kept the 17 ft kayak dry, keep in mind, this cover is big enough for the widest of canoes, so it does fit a bit baggy for a slim seat kayak. left outside for a couple of weeks in the puget sound weather, some rain and wind. Inside was dry, a longer test over the winter weather will be needed to prove further durability. for vehicle travel would needs some bungee cords to take care of the excess fabric baggy-ness. This is my third cover in 10 years, the first for this brand, I would say this is better than most, especially for the price. ... show more

Product is great to cover the canoe and keep bugs and keep leaves away. I have a canoe outdoors, the cover offers good protection except from rain. After a recent rainy day water got inside. My canoe is 14 ft long and I bought the 17 ft cover because before I had a 14 ft cover which was very tight and not so easy to put it. With the 17 ft cover it is easy to put it in and out. Yes, there may be some excess on the ends and it it bothers you you can fold it and tie with a bungee cord. As for durability, I cannot comment much but a similar cover for a 14 ft canoe I had before lasted for about 7 years before it started cracking. I do not give a 5 star because it is not water proof and should have been disclosed when advertised. I think that is easy to fix by using the same product to make seems in tents impervious. ... show more
