I really like the size. I wasn't looking for a large kettle and this works great in the small space I needed one. When it's turned on you will see a blue glowing light and it shuts off when it reaches it's boiling point. I would say if half full, it takes less than 3 minutes to boil. I love this kettle. It’s perfect for me. I gave up K-cups awhile ago and have gone to grinding beans and doing ‘pour over’ coffee. I needed something to boil the water and this was it. It’s a perfect size for me and I love the swivel base it sits on. I also like that it is clear glass and I can see how much water is in it. When you turn it on, the blue light that illuminates on the bottom looks really cool and the water boils quickly. The best part is, once it reaches a full rolling boil, it turns itself off. This is a great safety feature, especially for those of us who have a tendency to forget to turn off a pan on the stove. That’s why I think it is especially good for older folks who have a tendency to forget things or even just someone very busy with lots of things on their mind. I use this every morning to boil water for my coffee, which I still prefer to made with a drip cone and fresh coffee grounds. The kettle works great for this and for making hot oatmeal, too. I did notice there is already a slight build up of seitment (I guess) on the bottom plate inside. Frankly, I'm not sure how to get the lid off so I can clean in there but I'm not all that worried. I was looking for a smaller kettle that my daughter could take with her to her dorm. A few important features for me were that it was stainless steel, had a concealed heating element, was cordless, had auto shut off and was easy to use. Most of the kettles that I found that met my specs were 1.7L or larger so I was really excited when i finally found this amazing 1L kettle for $18 that seemed to meet almost all of my requirements. The only requirement that it didn't meet was the stainless steel feature but at least it is 100% BPA free. Anyway, my daughter and her roommate just moved in 3 weeks ago but have already used this kettle a bunch of times and they absolutely LOVE it !! My daughter particularly loves the small footprint and the blue light that illuminates the bubbles as the water heats up. If anyone is looking for a small kettle, my daughter would highly recommend this one. It's fairly new so I'm not sure how it will hold up but i'll submit a follow up as the school year progresses. Update : This kettle held up beautifully. My daughter used it so many times in the dorm and she with it never had an issue. Plus, it still looks as good as new. At the end of the school year in June we just packed it (as I kept the packaging) and is ready to be used next year (2024) when my third child starts college. I purchased this kettle in August 2023 as a replacement for a plastic-like kettle. I couldn't be happier. I like that it is glass and illuminates when ON. It typifies quality. The ON/OFF switch is conveniently located on the comfortable, substantial handle. The kettle shuts off automatically, so boiling dry is not a concern. It lifts off its electrical base for cord-free pouring. Pouring is drip-free. The cord stows in the base for storage (see picture). I found it difficult due to the girth of the cord, so I attached a reusable, Velcro-like tie instead. It might become easier if stowed frequently. I am very pleased with my purchase and will purchase again if it becomes necessary to replace it. ... show more
