  • Warmer than Beta 87, lacks the color of the old EV N/D dynamics
This is a very nice sounding mic. It is warmer than other stage condensers in its class, which I like. But it doesn't have the color and extra richness of the old EV N/D series dynamics, which I hoped for. More transparent but with the EV house sound. If that's what you're looking for, you'll love it. If you like the extra coloration and fullness that the older EV dynamic mics added to your voice, you might be slightly disappointed about that. A notable improvement over the older 10 series EV condensers in terms of tuning/ response curve. ... show more

  • Unimpressive Clarity For A Condenser
My previous vocal mic was an EV N/D967 - old tech, but awesome, indestructible hypercard dynamic. So, when upgrading to a condenser, naturally I chose EV. Great mic, but countering the ad hype, the upper mids and highs are not very impressive for a condenser. And there's a low mid bump that makes the mic sound tubby. Not sure if I'll keep it. ... show more

  • Realy great sounding microphone
I purchased this microphone to replace my old vocal mic. Most vocal mic's for live use are dynamic microphone, this is a condenser microphone and it requires 48 V phantom power to operate. I was really surprised about how good this mic sounded. Vocals sound very clear and detailed and I can hear myself allot better in the rehearsal room. It cuts really well through the live mix. It's really well built, everything is metal and not plastic. I accidentally dropped it once, not a scratch and no dent in the grille. Nice! This mic is built like a tank. I been making music since the 70's and owned and heard allot of mic's. This is one great sounding microphone! I highly recommend it. ... show more
