  • Great Product at a Great Price
Style: 1-stage Size: Snow Blower w/2-4.0Ah Batteries
I bought this blower to deal with heavy snow out in Western Colorado, and for the price, it really delivered. For a blower of its size and sturdiness, it's surprisingly light (though you won't be juggling it any time soon). Blowing distance in my experience has been a bit shorter than advertised (maybe 15 feet), but that's not really been a problem. The ejection chute is easily to turn with a knob near the handle, so you can usually turn the chute to blow snow to a desired area no matter the blowing distance. Blowing distance also increases with more snow. The machine is really easy to clean and operate, and my experience with the batteries that came with it has been good. It didn't come charged, but it only took 90 minutes to do both, so I just cooked dinner while the batteries got ready. Since then they've lasted 4 full runs of my driveway and still have a little left. While I won't call it totally foolproof, I've also been impressed by the safety features of the blower. It stops automatically when it gets overloaded or the batteries get low enough that they'll be damaged by further use, which has been very helpful in keeping such a high cost investment in good condition. Once it stops, it's quickly starts up again once the problem is resolved, so this is a much bigger help than a burden. Minimal assembly required and a set of folding handlebars which allows me to easily store it have made this snowblower a really good investment. Ego has a very good reputation with most people, and for good reason. It's not easy to get stars and a hearty recommendation from me when dealing with high cost items. The more money you spend on an item, the bigger deal each flaw in a product is. However this one gets some big thumbs up for me. The only caution I might give is to buy batteries, charger, and blower separately to give you more control over price and charging time. However if ease of purchase is valuable to you, this will do just fine out of the box. ... show more

  • Excellent Snow Blower, but Expect Shipping Delays
Style: 2-stage Size: 24-Inch w/(4) 10.0Ah Batteries
This is an excellent snow blower for residential use, and an excellent value for all you receive in the kit. Set-up out of the crate is simple, 4 bolts to attach the upper handle and 1 bolt to attach the discharge chute, each with large knobs for easy tool-free assembly. From unboxing to first use was ~40 minutes. The controls are intuitive and ergonomic, especially if you are familiar with other Ego products (I have the 21" self-propelled lawn mower). The discharge chute adjustment handles are a bit stiff, but are easy enough to work with a single hand. Importantly, the chute does not wander or change direction during use and can easily be manipulated to put the snow exactly where you want it without having to bend or stop moving. This kit includes (4) 10 AH batteries and (2) turbo chargers; the individual purchase prices of these items alone exceeds the total price of the tool kit. The batteries charged from ~1 bar (~10-20% total capacity) on the turbo chargers in ~1 hour (including time needed to warm the batteries after shipping in single-digit temperatures and cool down time after charging). I used a single 7.5 AH battery (from my lawn mower) for the first use. I cleared ~1/2 of my driveway of 4" fresh powdery snow, and ~60 yards of sidewalk of ~9-11" of snow and packed ice (hadn't been cleared in ~1 week), before tramming the machine around my house to store in a shed. I used lower speed settings on the auger for the driveway, and used higher speed (but not turbo) for most of the sidewalk. I completed all work and still had 1 bar (10-20% total capacity) left on the single 7.5 AH battery. I note that Ego recommends using (2) battery packs when operating this snow blower, and I am quite impressed with the work I got out of a single battery! The driveway and sidewalk are all steep grade, and the self-propel worked extremely well, it never lost grip going up and (very importantly) did not run away from me going down the grade. The aggressive tread on the drive tires bit in deeply in to the snow to propel the unit forward. The variable speed controls and reverse were very easy to use and it is easy to optimize the machine's movement to the task and operator comfort. This is a heavy machine, which is good for biting into the snow and getting traction, but it doesn't feel heavy to operate. Turning is accomplished by simply pushing to one side and the machine follows. The machine also freewheels incredibly easy, and the intake chute can be lifted off the ground easily by pushing down on the handles. My only major issue with this purchase was the shipping process. This is a large item, 210 lbs, delivered on a pallet and requiring FedEx freight. Amazon estimated a delivery date within (3) days of purchase (it was listed as a Prime delivery). While I thought that was ambitious, it wasn't even close. The delivery took (9) calendar days to complete. The Amazon tracking app was of no help and, since FedEx turns over last-mile delivery at the end, their tracking was not much more accurate. For an item of this price, I would expect that not one, but two, companies world-famous for package delivery to have a better system in place to update status of shipping. On the other hand, I cannot say enough nice things about the last-mile delivery service in my area, which were extremely polite, efficient, and courteous. Once the freight arrived, the box showed minor damage and the top was open (the delivery driver warned us of this before he arrived and provided instructions for return if the freight was damaged), but luckily nothing inside was damaged. In general Amazon typically does a really good job with shipping information; however, be prepared for a longer than expected delay in shipping for this oversized freight. ... show more

  • Works really well. Not going to say I’m not impressed.
Style: 1-stage Size: Snow Blower w/2-5.0Ah Batteries, Steel Auger
To be fair, it’s the first big snow of the season with dry lightly packed snow. Picked up a clipper that dropped 6” in half a day. This thing powered right through and didn’t hesitate once. Did my 4 car drive with about 2/3 of the battery left and part of the street (picky mail delivery). About to do round 2 in the morning with another expected 4”. Pros: quick. Low power still has enough to move snow. High power will get you that 40’ snow shot. Didn’t feel that the less dense snow needed it. I didn’t run lights so I was fairly conservative on the battery draw. Cons: these are kind of nit picky. It comes with two 5ah batteries. It would be nice to have the 7.5’s at the same price point. At over $700, I feel that it should have a tad bit more to it. The battery compartment has a raised edge to help prevent moisture from getting inside. Maybe a gasket would help. I wiped off around the door to make sure nothing entered the electronics. It will catch in any raised surface, even a slight one, so go slow. Overall, I’m happy with it for a first time use. I didn’t have to wrench my back and shoulder trying to start my old craftsman thrower, so bonus there. Size comparison is about 1/3 larger than my 21” craftsman gas thrower (the one with the rubber blades). I would and plan to recommend as it’s about $300 less than the dewalt thrower and has better reviews. ... show more
