Top Amazon Reviews

  • Easy to Use & Assemble/ Superb Quality & Performance/ Great Value
Size: 34‘’
There are 2 types of manual lawn aerators you can basically choose from if you're not considering a rolling push manual device. One is called the spike aerator and the other is called a core aerator. A core aerator is better to use primarily when applying plugs. However, a spike aerator (34 inch) like the one I purchased here is better for creating more airflow and water access to the roots of your existing sod or new plugs once they've actually been planted and just begun to take hold. (SEE PIC) The performance of this tool definitely makes it a lot easier for the fertilizer to reach the roots of your lawn and sod much quicker. Keep in mind, the very few negative reviews which I have seen here at Amazon have been for the 37.6 inch 3-Coring and 4-Coring tine version of this aerator sold by EEIEER which I definitely didn't purchase or review here today. Personally. I compared a number of advertisements for spike manual aerators sold here at Amazon and honestly I must admit I think I made the best overall choice with this specific model I chose here. (SEE PIC) Granted there's a few other brand tools out there with 19 spikes instead of 15. Some other aerators feature nails that are made of stainless steel or even iron which I must admit is an added bonus. However, the nails offered here with this EEIEER brand tool are constructed of quality heavy duty steel and sturdy enough to go head to head with likely the best of them. (SEE PIC) Whichever aerator brand you select all of the nails still need to be manually assembled to the foot plate if that's a specific concern of yours prior to making the purchase.(See PIC) In actual use, I had no trouble penetrating the soil in my first attempt and the foot plate feels very sturdy although you may have to wobble it from side to side a few times just to make sure that every spike itself penetrates the ground. The spikes are advertised to be 2.6 inches in length but that's the measurement before you install them in the foot plate. Afterwards, with all the nuts secure it's actually only about 2 inches in length.(SEE PIC) The longest spikes I saw advertised by any competitor was at 2.9 inches so I figure the same scenario would likely happen with their tool as well once the spikes are actually attached. Granted, somewhat of a disappointment with the length of the spikes but not enough to make it a real deal breaker for me in not making the purchase. Overall, I found the assembly easy but I'll admit the ad pictures shown at Amazon were actually more helpful versus the manufacturer assembly instructions provided in the box which left for me a lot to be desired. Key factors to consider when installing the tool is to make sure you use the hex wrench or often called an Allen wrench when you install the handle together and use it in conjunction with the silver wrench sized to fit each respective nut or bolt when screwed into place. (SEE PIC) The smaller nut bolts are used to connect the handle while the larger ones are installed to secure the spikes or nails on the bottom of the foot plate. Make sure you don't forget to use the large black T wrench to tighten the bolts securely on the bottom plate connecting the spikes and I also used the silver wrench on the other side to make sure that even a more secure tightened fit existed when finished. (SEE PIC) Granted, this lawn spike aerator tool is best used for smaller areas of the lawn but it still can be easily used for up to 3000 sq ft lawns with not a considerable amount of time and effort required if the soil is somewhat already moist and isn't too compacted or reduced to a harder clay like surface. I'd recommend getting a rolling push spike aerator for larger sized lawns. However, keep in mind that the purchase price for such a larger tool will be about twice the cost if not more compared to the actual price that I paid here for this one. The manufacturer does give you a few spare parts like an extra nail for the bottom step plate and a few extra nuts, bolts and screws for the handle and step plate but that's about it. However, considering how sturdy this tool actually is I doubt if those extra parts will ever be necessary. The bottom line is that this is a quality built manual spike aerator which offers great value and performance for the price paid. It should last for many years to come and I strongly recommend the purchase as it should meet or exceed all of your future lawn and gardening expectations when it comes to aerating or sodding your lawn. ... show more

  • Design Flaw
It would clog up after just 5 or 6 times of pushing it in the lawn. I noticed it was always at the top of each tube where it came back to a complete circle. I took my grinder and cut the top of each tube out and no more clogging so far and I have used it all afternoon. If it wasn’t for the design flaw I would have given it 5 stars. A solid tool and easy to assemble. ... show more

  • It’s just fine but becarful
The EEIEER Lawn Aerator Coring Tool offers a mixed experience. Its lightweight design makes it easy to handle and maneuver across the lawn. The coring tines do penetrate the soil, aiding in aeration. However, durability is a concern, as the tines tend to bend under moderate pressure. The tool’s effectiveness varies depending on the soil type, and it may struggle with compacted areas. Additionally, the handle lacks ergonomic comfort. On the positive side, it is affordable and suitable for occasional use on smaller lawns. While it has its limitations, it can serve as a budget-friendly option for light-duty lawn aeration needs. ... show more

  • Unfortunately, no matter what trick I try, it doesn't work
The tool just doesn't work as intended. The heads clog up after 2-3 steps. I'd have expected them to clog up every so often, maybe 20-40 steps... nope, never got more than 3 steps before clogging. I don't think I received a damaged or one-off order, it seems like it'd hold together well enough but it's probably going in the garbage because it just plain doesn't work and I wouldn't want to burden anyone else with it and have them waste their time like I did. Things I tried to get this manual aerator to work: i tried aerating when the lawn was dry, I tried when the lawn was soaked, I tried soaking the lawn then letting it dry out a few hours, I tried soaking and aerating the next morning, I tried dipping the head in water every few steps, I tried spraying the head with coconut oil... once it's clogged you have to clean it out with their tool which is not efficient and will take 3-5 mins per cleanout. Bought expecting to spend maybe 3-4 hours of hard work on a 1200 sqft plot of grass. Spent more than double that and barely have plugs to show for it. 1/3 of the way through I again researched alternative methods to aerate but didn't want to fork up the money after buying this tool so I completed with this very very begrudgingly. I'm very willing to do the work but it's a shame after all that work I barely have cores to show for it and imagine I might have compacted the soil under the holes from stepping down with clogged heads. I did clean out very often but probably every 10-20 steps so I'd get maybe 3 unclogged steps then 7-17 clogged steps. I don't often write reviews but the product is not very cheap and does not work at all. I wish I opted for the more popular manual aerator everyone recommends but this has put such a bad taste in my mouth I'll probably fork out for the rental method or hire next time. ... show more

  • Plan to spend several days working in the yard...
Easy assembly, seems to be sturdy. I like the way it's put together rather than using a lot of cheap welds. Yes, time will tell how durable it is... you certainly have to prepare the grass/ soil before using it. (water the ground so that you can pull plugs easily... otherwise you WILL break it trying to use it on hard, dry soil.) Is it work to use? Yes! If you want to do it the easy way go rent a powered aerator. I've been doing small sections every day and find that it works well and the cores come out easily. Plus doing it an hour everyday is easy to fit into my schedule. ... show more

  • SOLID
I gave a lower rating on Ease of Use due to just assembling it but not having used it yet (I live in Massachusetts). I will say that the packaging was top notch, assembly was easy and obvious and the build quality is exceptional! I would think you’d be very hard pressed to find a comparable product as good as this one. 👍🏻 ... show more

  • Cut the middle tine off for ease of use
I had a tough time getting this to go into the dirt and Im a strong fella. What i did was cut the middle tine off and it punches into the dirt much easier now and it works just as well. Yes it clogs but the dirt seems to pop out of the middle anyway. Its less than ideal but works. Id probably go with another brand. ... show more
