Pretty much plug and play for Windows 11 24H2 and Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon, it hits the AX band hard, it needs direct line of site for the WiFi 7 band, as well as the 6E band, but this little jewel works great, I am curious if there is an actual wire in the two plastic raise up antennas, I may have to buy another and sacrifice one to find out, I have the correct sacrificial knife to submit one to the Gawds that watch over us. It hits a solid no waver 1200 Mbps to the router WLAN on the AX band. when my new laptop comes in that I'm putting a BE200 card it, I will be able to get closer to my router and test the WLAN router speeds on 6E and WiFi 7 with this little thing. ... show more

I used this to boost the wifi to my laptop from the main modem. It works well and the installation was just plug and go. The speed was greatly increased and the quality was great and it was compatible with my modem from Spectrum.

I knew Wi-Fi 6E would offer better performance compared to the outdated Wi-Fi transmitter in my older Dell gaming laptop, so I expected an improvement with this USB receiver. However, I was blown away by the significant boost in performance it delivered. The package included a small USB thumb drive containing the necessary drivers, which I really appreciated. It made the installation process incredibly simple—just open the file, double-click the installer, and you’re ready to go. Once the drivers were installed, I plugged the adapter into a USB 3.0 port on my laptop, and it worked seamlessly. Important to note: This device only functions properly with a powered USB 3.0 port. If used with an unpowered USB port, it may connect but will constantly disconnect and power cycle. The USB 3.0 port is essential to provide the power needed for optimal speed and range. After testing, I saw a dramatic improvement in both upload and download speeds—nearly a 300% increase. My typical speeds with my laptop’s built-in Wi-Fi are around 45 Mbps for downloads and 20 Mbps for uploads. With this adapter, I achieved speeds of over 200 Mbps, even from a distance of nearly 50 feet from my router. Upload speeds also improved slightly, but they were limited by my internet provider. Overall, this device exceeded my expectations. It’s compact, easy to install, and hasn’t disconnected once since I connected it to a USB 3.0 port.     • Heats up and stops working within 5 minutes
Connected to my laptop, installed the drivers, it works as expected. After 5 minutes or so, my wifi started to drop and would will connect and immediately disconnect repetitively. pulled this dongle out and noticed it is extremely hot. Allowed it to cool down for 10 minutes, connected an old to TP-link that does not have WiFi 6. Re-connected after 10 minutes, same thing, works for 5 minutes as expected, heats up and stops working. Not very good signal compared to other 6ghz devices. Wish there was updates to the software it comes with. Signal strength is no better than the old onboard 5ghz WiFi 6.

    • Great Upgrade To My Old Machine
I have an older PC with built-in wifi and it desperately needed an upgrade. All of my other devices were faster than it and I relied on it for a few specific things in my workflow. Initially, I was not very impressed with this device after using the drivers that came with it but after I uninstalled them and let Windows install drivers automatically, it suddenly started working and has been in service for several months now without issue. Being USB, it is easy to transport and I haven't noticed any issues with heat, disconnections, or inconsistent performance. Having the extra antennas has allowed me to maintain a good connection through thick walls and the speed increase has been noticeable. Very happy with the results. ... show more

Are you going to use this for in home networking or large file transfers, keep shopping. Are you going to use this for browsing the internet and playing games, bingo. It's not the fastest, but it's inexpensive and works. Like 95% of people are going to be perfectly satisfied with this. The average home internet speed is between 200-250Mbps. That is for the whole household. So if you have multiple devices you can expect less per device. This device can deliver 100% of that bandwidth. So unless you are networking between PC, there is no point in anything faster on the client end. ... show more
