  • Best all-around headphones I've used.
Color: Black
I purchased these after my cheap JBL bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones started to fail, and I couldn't be happier with them aside from very minor issues that don't affect my enjoyment, but may affect others. The sound on these is excellent, far better than most bluetooth headphones I've used and even over bluetooth in line with some wired studio headphones I own -- to me these sound just as good as my Audio-Technica ATH-M40Xs, for comparison. I didn't detect any difference between wireless and wired use aside from something I'll discuss in the negatives. Whether it was jazz, death metal, electronic music, speech, or just ambient sound, everything sounded crisp and clear with no overbearing sub-bass, muddiness, or sharpness in the high frequencies. Hip-hop and modern R&B fans should be especially pleased with these as they deliver the heavy bass without drowning out the mids and highs the way brands like Beats do. The noise cancelling on these is superb as well, and to me did not affect the actual sound coming through at all. I use these in the common area of my house where the TV is usually being played fairly loud, and with the ANC on and music or speech coming through I can't make out anything. They've even been able to drown out the vacuum cleaner fairly well. I've had problems with other ANC headphones where the sound they produce to destructively interfere with outside noise is audible over the music, but not so with these. I think the vast majority of listeners would be more than satisfied with the sound from these, especially for the price. Speaking on comfort and build, these are fantastic as well. The cups fit perfectly around my ear even with a small ring earring on my lobe, the cushions are soft, they're fairly light, they fit snugly without feeling like a vice, and they don't get sweaty with long use. I do wish they could extend just a LITTLE bit further than they do however; I have to bring the band to its full length to use them well, and unfortunately that length isn't enough for me to have them around my neck while not in use. These do thankfully come with a nice case, but it would be good to have the option, I feel. I think they also look great with a very standard design; they blend in well. They are mostly plastic but after many hours of use and being transported, they show very little signs of wear if at all. I GREATLY appreciate that the wired option is a standard auxiliary cable; one of my biggest pet peeves for headphones with a removable wire is non-standard plugs, something both the JBL and Audio-Technica headphones use. Being a standard auxiliary port, it's very easy to buy a replacement at a good price with any length you want, as long as you make sure the plug into the headphones is small enough to fit comfortably. ANC can also be used over a wired connection, and can be used without the headphones on -- it's a separate switch, but keep in mind this also means you can easily drain the battery if you don't turn it off when not in use. But speaking of battery, yet again these are great. I use these both for work and leisure so they're on for around 8-12 hours a day, and even with that use I only have to charge them every three days with ANC on. There are a few cons with these headphones, but to me they are very minor. I've noticed what sounds like a ground hum can be heard in the right ear with ANC on in some circumstances; it sounds like interference being picked up, and I've noticed if I place my hand on a phono pre-amp for a turntable that hum is amplified. It is at its worst wired plugged into a charging laptop; if my computer is plugged in and I'm using these wired, the right ear hum with ANC is so loud they become unusable. I'm not sure what exactly causes this and whether or not it's just a fault with mine, but it happens so infrequently that I don't think it's an issue. Some may also be annoyed by the use of micro-USB instead of USB-C for charging, but personally I only have one device (a third party switch controller) that uses USB-C while I have plenty of micro-USB cables. It's not a problem for me, but again, it should be noted for others. Overall, these are amazing headphones, and have completely replaced by other pairs outside of my ATH-E40 earbuds I use for working out. I cannot recommend these enough, they are well worth the money and my favorite general use headphones I've found. ... show more

  • Be careful of other competitors writing netative reviews as they should be afraid!
Color: Black
I feel I’ve found the headphones to benchmark all other headphones against. My wife has Bose headphones and I’ve tried multiple headphones over the past few months in pursuit of a personal headset. Watching many YouTube reviews then trying out the best of the rest at a sub $200 bracket and a couple over $200. Well, Edifier W860NB are the ones to reckon against in my opinion, outstanding sound! Why because they offer a clarity not found in headphones in this price range and even much more expensive ones. Spatial separation is greater than the competition! Bass, mids and highs are perfectly balanced. Wow, the vocals are some of the clearest I’ve ever heard and if you close your eyes you are there live, that’s how good they are! Edifier, you have done an outstanding job on this model. They are very comfortable to wear and the first pair I’ve noticed that doesn’t diminish sound quality when turning on the ANC, in fact I think it improves the sound! Some reviews say the W860NB are the same sound quality as the lower priced W830NT Edifiers but there are some improvements I’ve noticed. For example, higher volumes can be achieved and a slightly punchier bass that is welcome. Plus, they have the ANC included that is useful when in noisy environments such as planes, trains and automobiles! They are still getting 5 stars but two little improvements for the future would be a USB C charging port and a way to prevent accidentally pausing the headset via the touch sensitive right cup when operating another function on the headphones. I’m not a sound engineer but have appreciated quality in sound for over 30 years tuning pianos for professional musicians and recording studios here in the US and in my native country of the UK. Please try these before deciding on another pair of headphones, you won’t be disappointed. UPDATE: I've had these headphones for several weeks now and added an app to my cellphone called Bass Booster that when set to flat equalizer, 40% bass and 50% 3D effect gives these headphones an extra edge. I'm loving the quality of these headphones. Some have complained about the connectivity of the headphones when using Bluetooth but I only had a slight cut out on the first attempt when setting up the connection. After the initial setup they've been fine. I've noticed on an odd occasion that the touch sensitive controls malfunction but correct themselves if turned off and on again. I still feel these are a great product and deserve an accolade for sound quality, build, intuitive controls and value for money. The ANC is not as powerful as some headphones but this helps to prevent interfering with the sound quality and the feeling of pressure in the ear canals that is evident with other brands. In fact, as mentioned earlier in the review the sound quality seems to improve with the ANC when compared to other brands plus the ANC is adequate enough to reduce noise from low level frequencies such as engine and fan noises. ... show more

  • Decent for the price
Color: Black
I like the price of these for the build that you receive, and generally overall, they are worth it for noice cancelling without the Bose sticker shock. Another pro is that you can turn off the noise cancelling function if you want to save a little extra battery life. The downsides to these headphones are that it takes a long time for them to turn on. I have to hold down the power button for a good 10s before they do their wake up beeps to tell me they’re now working. The other downside is that you cannot immediately tell what they are connected to. I use them with my phone and laptop primarily. It does auto connect based on last paired, and can use two devices at the same time, but because there’s no audio cue telling me, and because there’s not an app either - you have to check the device itself to be sure. You also will never truly know how much battery you have remaining. All the cons listed aren’t enough for me to dislike the headphones as the sound quality is good. I also enjoy the touch controls on the right ear. Changing volume and accepting and ending calls just with a swipe of tap is a very nice feature - I just wish they could have gone one extra step with at least a battery life gauge. All in all, definitely worth it. ... show more
