  • To my surprise, it works perfectly.
Its been in use now (24/7) for 4 months. It never turns off. The digital screen works perfectly keeping me informed of what is going on at this moment. Understanding what duty cycle is, I bought this unit because it is much larger than what I need. So it does its job just coasting along at slightly above a idle, and it does it without the fan coming on. I average pulling 800 watts. But I do it 100% silent. At 800 watts of draw, the unit is not even warm to the touch. I could have bought a less expensive smaller unit and made it work harder. But then I would have had to listen to the cooling fan and I did not want that. And the harder you work a unit, the faster they wear out for an average. So instead of being the guy that complains the fan is loud and noisy, (and I would have been that guy) I just plain outsmarted the problem and its totally silent and I love it. For me it's proven to be great quality for the money. I would buy it again. It powers my desktop computers and prevents them from crashing when my local power goes out once a week for 5 second intervals.   • Solid Performing Pure Sine Wave Inverter
Positives: this EDECOA 3500W pure sine wave inverter successfully powered all household loads I threw at it. A full list below. The output waveform is a fairly clean sine wave - see the attached image. Concerns: It is a rather bulky form factor compared with similarly rated units so make sure you can accommodate the space required. It's tall! I'm not a huge fan of the thumbscrew 12v lug connections. I prefer nut and bolt connections that other units have since they allow for easier tightening/torquing with a wrench. I was looking for an inverter to power household loads. I tested ANOTHER "pure sine wave" inverter but was unhappy with its ability to handle a variety of loads, especially starting motor loads. The EDECOA 3500W inverter performed admirably. It delivered rated voltage output, about 120v with both 12v and 14.8v inputs I tested. This was the first pure sine wave inverter I tested that was stout enough to provide inrush current for motor starting on my refrigerator, miter saw, and shop vac. The inverter produced no noticeable buzzing at electronic loads like an LED TV and ceiling fans. LED lights all worked and dimmed normally with no buzzing. Summary of loads tested (one at a time) - All loads started and operated normally: 1. LED lights - various sizes 2. Full size refrigerator/freezer - 15.4 LRA (locked rotor amps) compressor 3. Shop Vac - 11 Amps 4. Miter Saw - 15 Amps 5. 65" LED TV 6. Belt Drive Garage Door Opener 7. Ceiling fans With the larger loads (shop vac, miter saw, refrigerator), I saw the output voltage dip slightly to 110v during startup but the devices continued to operate normally and the inverter quickly returned to 120v output once the loads were fully started. ... show more

  • Shock and Fire Hazard
This inverter has NO business whatsoever being installed into any RV. In full truth, this inverter should NOT be sold in the United States of America at all. This inverter violates a basic assumed premise of every 120 volt circuit in the entire country: That neutral is in fact neutral or on the same voltage plane with ground. This inverter creates a neutral and a hot which revolve positive and negative 63 volts away from ground. The 125 volts between the hot and the neutral will cause any typical device to work, but it is dangerous. Only double insulated devices are designed to operate safely under this condition. Note: If the only thing you will use this inverter for is to power double insulated devices, then this inverter will be very good for you. A double insulated device will say "double insulated" on its label. Commonly, they are drills, circular saws, and other high voltage hand tools that a person would be likely to use outside. Double insulated devices are more expensive to build. If the device you would like to use doesn't say "double insulated", then it is not. Most devices are not double insulated. This includes computers, microwaves, tvs, and about anything which would typically be used only indoors. I will do my best to explain what this means by example to anyone who does not understand. Or, if you do understand, you might not immediately realize all of the effects. Please comment if you believe anything needs more clarity so that I can improve this review, because it is important that people know what they are purchasing. Neutral is NOT neutral because there is a voltage difference between neutral and ground. This means... 1) When you flip a switch or release a trigger or, in any other way, shut the power off without unplugging the device, then a potential for power will still exist in the device. This means that it would not be safe to stick a butter knife into the toaster, or whatever, without physically unplugging the device first. 2) Breakers protect your electrical system from burning by monitoring the hot wire. The neutral remains unprotected because electricity cannot flow through the neutral without flowing through the hot. This situation is NOT true if you use this inverter. A neutral/ground problem will go undetected. This inverter will easily overload any typical neutral wire and a fire could easily result. Ground fault or arc fault protection would need to exist before electricity from the inverter enters the wiring system of your home to protect against this situation. A properly wired home will not simply burn down. Improperly wired, especially between neutral and ground, is not that rare. 3) If you have a situation like myself, where your RV can plug into mains (an outlet powered by the power company), or you can get power from this inverter, then your situation becomes more complex. The power that comes from this inverter is not like the power produced by the electric company. Every normal wiring system will connect all neutrals at some point. Every mains electrical system bonds neutral to ground at the main panel to ensure that neutral remains neutral. But, Neutral from this inverter CANNOT be neutral. Plugging your RV into mains creates a neutral/ground short. If your RV, like mine, automatically switches to mains power when plugged in and to inverter power when unplugged, then you need to ensure that the power coming from mains remains on. If the mains power shuts off, then the inverter will be switched in agains the mains neutral/ground short and this inverter will immediately overload and easily burn any typical extension cord you used to plug in your RV. If you have such an RV, then you need to make sure than the neutral from the inverter can never be in contact with the mains neutral. 4) If you discover that you have a neutral/ground problem, then you will immediately find yourself in a difficult situation. Given any typical electrical problem, you would have some idea of where the problem is because of what doesn't work, or which breaker is popped. But a neutral/ground short can be anywhere and you will find yourself searching every junction box you have. Testing requires physical disconnection of the wires. Given the situation, one would think that this inverter would have a safety feature built which avoids any neutral/ground connection. This inverter does NOT specifically test for a neutral/ground fault. It does NOT indicate when the problem happens. If it does NOT shut down. Instead, it will gladly burn any wire which cannot handle its full load. In the event that this inverter does detect an overload, it will not require you to reset it. Instead it will keep trying to output power. It is ready and willing to burn your RV or anything else you put it in to the ground. ... show more

  • Definite upgrade for me.
It's working fine and is able to start my compressor which my old 3000 watt modified sine wave couldn't handle. Nice unit so far. The idle current doesn't measure as low as claimed (.5 or some such) my meter is saying 1.2 amps with no load. I like the remote with it's display lights and 'find it in the dark' on/off button light. ... show more
