I cannot say enough positive about this product. I have only had it installed for 2 weeks, one group of renters since I installed them. Now, I did install the thermostats wrong, I highly suggest a professional to install them unless you really know what you are doing. After the professional came and corrected my errors, I played with it a bit. Super easy to set limits, make it code-access only, and super easy to set up the window/door sensors ( I did do those correctly). The ap is easily managed. Why did I have to do all this? I understand it is in FL, but my house is ICF with attic spray foam, so it is very well insulated. June/July of 2023 came with a $700 electric bill, plus a service call to thaw out a frozen AC unit. Then I get there in late September and see black mildew on every AC vent, around the ceiling at the vents, plus on walls at the exterior doors. Only thing that causes that is cold air constantly blowing against hot air. So the renters were leaving the doors open and the AC set pretty low. I set AC limit at 68 degrees, and the unit turns off if a door is open longer than 5 minutes. I did not install sensors on the windows, they did not show any signs of being opened. THE FIRST GROUP came in and lowered the temp from 72 to the lowest possible, 68. In 3 days the AC was shut down 5 times from doors being left open more than 5 minutes, longest at 53 minutes on a door that faces east at 9am, a door furthest from the thermostat, and at the thermostat the temp rose 3 degrees, so I'd say the temp rose 5+ degrees at that area of the house. And I bet that is the only reason they shut the door. Without that control, no telling how long the AC would run to try to keep the house at 68 with a door open. I wanted a thermostat to run my fan only on demand. I can command alexa to turn on the fan to run with my fireplace and circulate hat thru the house. When the next hating cycle begins the normal routine runs. Other brands I looked at would not do this. Plus great customer service. They verified my concerns before purchasing. ... show more

They fail to mention in any literature that this version doesn't have a speaker of any kind to act as a security base. Installation was a pain and more or less disabled my emergency heat function. Not impressed for the money spent.

While the process of installation was easy, when I had to call customer service I was on hold for 25 minutes and instead just decided “wing” it as it relates to the wiring.

This is a great thermostat if you want embedded programming that cannot be changed except by some engineer via the internet. I've phoned ecobee and received tech assistance that did not fix the primary issue. Once the furnace reaches the set temperature the furnace turns off, but the t-stat keeps the fan running with no heat. It's doing it right now actually. The fan will run until it reaches 5 degrees below the setting and I get fed up enough to recycle the power to the furnace. I was told by ecobee there is proprietary programming that cannot be altered. After the troubleshooting session of over an hour I made sure to disconnect the unit from the wifi connection. I will be replacing the ecobee with a t-stat that I can control without having to call tech assistance that doesn't fix the problem. Smart technology doesn't seem so smart to me. ... show more

My thermostat has been rebooting for about a month now on a consistent basis. I’ve spoken with support and had an HVAC tech out. I have a Honeywell air filtration system on my furnace (6” filter), and change my filters religiously. Now, I’m being told this reboot is because my “filters are too clean.” WHAT?! I’m switching to Nest. Our power company just raised rates 18%, and my ecobee isn’t eco anything. ... show more
