There we NO instructions with the struts. It took awhile to figure out that the mounts for the tailgate struts would not work on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and that I needed to remove the ends of the struts and replace them with the ends from the original struts. (The mounts on each end screw on and off.) Once I figured that out, they were easy to install. Instructions explaining that you night need to swap out the mounting hardware would have been helpful. It took particular bits to remove the tailgate and rear glass struts. Fortunately I was able to borrow them. I cannot speak about longevity yet. ... show more

    • For the first time ever, my 2004 WJ hood doesn't need a stick to hold it up
2004 Jeep GC Limited. The hood was easy, prop it up with a stick, use a 90 degree pick tool to pull out the spring clamps on the old struts, pop on the new struts. The big rear hatch was different. I needed a big torx bit to get out the old bolts. Then with the new struts, use the pick tool to pull the spring clamps out JUST ENOUGH to get the new-style ball bolts out of them. Then screw in the new ball bolts into the jeep, use the old washers, and don't over tighten them. Then push on the new strut to the bottom ball. Then you will think you can't push up the hatch high enough to get the top one on but if you keep pushing up, you can get it on. I haven't done the window glass ones yet so I can't speak to those. ... show more
