I needed an outlet and a better looking lighting fixture on the front porch. I thought I might have to run a separate setup just to have an outlet until I started searching to see if combinations like were available. After a ton of research and reading one star reviews; yes, I always read those first..., I decided on this unit. 1. Installation was pretty easy. 2. The default always on dim light setting is perfect! Not annoyingly bright at all but you can easily see it from across the street. 3. The motion sensor that cranks up the illumination works great even at a distance of about 30 - 40 feet. And yes, that bright setting does throw enough light to illuminate the end of a 30 foot long pathway. 4. As for the two GFCI outlets. They come in handy for everything from Christmas lights to garden equipment. I also prefer them being on the bottom versus some models that have them on one side or the other. To me this ensures there will be no issues with fitment of the fixture in tight spaces because of the door covering the outlets. And this position won't stress out your cords or have them possibly wiggle out. ... show more

The front of my house doesn’t have any receptacles outside. This light looks great and is the only one I found with an outlet on the bottom. Shopped at Lowes first and the outlet was on the wrong side for me to easily access from my high porch. Added bonus is that it has motion AND the dusk till dawn feature.     • The dusk to dawn switch is hidden!
I was about ready to return this light after we installed it because we couldn't get the light to stay on at 30% between motion events, despite having bought a dimmable LED bulb. There is nothing in the instructions about how to turn on that feature, so I thought the light was improperly advertised. I was upset, because the dusk to dawn feature was the reason I chose this fixture over many others that I looked at. Well it's a good thing I checked the product listing before taking it off the wall, because there's a hidden switch under the top cap! My husband took off the cap (not sure if it just pulls off or needs to be unscrewed) and found the toggle. It needs to be switched to the High setting I believe, and that will prevent the light from completely turning off after it's done detecting motion at night. That information really needs to be included in the instructions that come with the fixture, so I'm docking a star for the sheer frustration we experienced. Otherwise, it's a nice looking light that works as advertised, and the GFCI outlet is great feature. The one thing I don't really like is that the motion light turns off very quickly. Most motion lights we have used are adjustable so you can set the duration. I prefer the motion light to stay on for 5-10 minutes so it doesn't keep flashing on and off while you're outside trying to do something. If you're using the dusk to dawn setting that just dims the light, that isn't nearly as noticeable, fortunately. ... show more

We are not handy so we had an electrician install this light. It is on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. We love the outlets and can wait to use them to plug in our Christmas lights. We liked this light so much we got one for my parents house. I also like the fact you can just leave the switch on and it comes on at dusk and shuts off at sunrise. No more coming home in the dark.
