  • Works well
Size: 80,000 Color: Black
First I'll note that picking out a water softener on my own was a laborious ordeal, and I made some mistakes along the way. The biggest mistake was my misunderstanding of how to test water hardness. I had bought a TDS meter thinking that would tell me the hardness of my water. That was a fairly significant mistake because in thinking that my water was harder than it really was caused me to oversize my water softener. Granted, we are a family of 7, soon to be 8 and our water consumption will be increasing over the next 10 years, but I still would have liked to size it better and not be oversized. Other than that, the main complaint I have is that it can be a bit tricky to understand how to program the meter. It is not really intuitive and it took me a little bit to figure out that when I was doing the settings, I wasn't exiting the "edit mode" and everything just kept getting reset. Once I finally pulled up the programming video on Youtube that made a difference, but I still feel like it isn't totally user friendly when programming. I feel like I need a cheat sheet stored down with the softener so I can more easily know what I have to do if I ever have to re-do the programming. In terms of installation, I paid a plumber to install this for me and everything went pretty smoothly. He was diligent to read the instructions provided and everything seems to be perfect. For me, the install was a little over $500, so make sure you plan for that cost. I had Culligan and Kinetico come give me estimates and bother were $3000+ (Softener + installation), and I ended up being less than 1/2 of that. Lastly, regarding shipping... The resin tank, salt tank and the extra resin all ship separately. I received all of these about a week apart and had to contact the seller to find out what happened to the rest of the order since Amazon only gave me one tracking number. Be aware that the resin tank comes pre-installed with some resin (presumably about 2 cu ft for the 80k grain model) and being that the shippers don't keep it upright there is some risk that the resin and gravel at the bottom of the resin tank can get mixed or shifted. This didn't affect mine, but I was warned by my plumber of that possible issue. My box for the resin tank was pretty dinged up too, but fortunately it didn't damage the tank itself. All-in-all this softener has worked well for me. I'm seeing hardness go from about 15 gpg to 1.5 gpg and haven't really noticed any drop in water pressure although I haven't measured it specifically. Something I didn't think about in getting a softener is that the taste of water changes when the hardness is replaced with sodium. It was more noticeable just after installation and has gotten better now that it has been in use a while and we're probably more accustomed to it. That being said, you may want to either get a RO system or even just bypass the softener for drinking water. ... show more

  • Great price, easy installation.
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
Just finished installing and it was a breeze. I can’t believe how much money I saved installing it myself. For anyone who is a newbie at these things like I was, I’ll write it what I did that wasn’t really easy to decipher in the instructions. My house was preplumbed and it had 1” pipes forming a loop in the garage. It also had a drain pipe right next to it. I purchased two 18” water heater pipes (1” connectors on each side) along with two Sharkbite male-to-female 1” adapters. I cut into the pipes, pushed on the connectors, and attached the 18” pipes to the inlet/outlet valves. Then I took a 1/2” inner diameter tube and secured it to the drain outlet. I placed it about two inches into the drain and secured it with a zip tie. The rest was easy to figure out with YouTube videos and the included instructions. Good luck! ... show more

  • This is a high quality Softener for a very reduced price.
Size: 32,000 Color: Black
This is a great product for the money, Do NOT get one of those salesmen water softeners, they want thousands of dollars for the same benefit. We have had our water softener for about 5 months and it is working great. Dishes are spotless, skin and hair feels much better. The biggest surprise is how much softer our hair feels, it's amazing. I did my own plumbing and created a french drain outside. Total spent for everything was around $1200. The 2 bids I received where for $7600 and $4200. Very happy we did it ourselves, everything was done correctly and the water softener is inside in the storage room right next to the water heater. The other guys wanted to put it outside in a small shed. I added my own bypass system using 3 shutoff values, so disconnecting this water softener is seamless. Having my own bypass allows us to bypass the water softening process while we using our outside Bibs to water plants and add water to our fish pond. The guy selling the $7600 system had no idea how I would use my 4 outside bibs to go back to hard water for this purpose of adding water to the fish pond or watering plants. He contacted his boss, Boss man did not even know. The $4200 system guy did know. The Flech 5600SX does come with a built in bypass in the head, but you have to keep the head on to use the bypass, to replace the system you would have to shut off your water to the entire house. The only downside is that I find I really do not like the taste of soft water - did not realize it would be so different, I guess I like my minerals for water taste? I attached a picture on my bypass and a picture of the water softener system ... show more

  • Worked for 4 weeks. Still not working. 450ppm hardness level
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
This thing worked for about 4 weeks then it felt like it did before the install. I went thru all the settings and made sure it was where it was suppose to be for my hardness level. I also have 2 other pre filters added onto the system. It’s half full of salt all the time. I wouldn’t buy it again. Currently looking for a new one. Update. Jan 31st 2021. Just tested my hardness level and it’s still 450ppm. Unit runs through a 2 separate whole house filters and is full of salt pellets. Settings have been adjusted to what the video from them told me to. It just simply does not work. Emailed seller today. ... show more

  • Don't buy
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
It took about two months to get it I hooked it up and it didn't even last a month because they sent it prefilled and filled the tube with gravel so the first time it tried running through its cycle the gravel got stuck in the valve. It broke the valve and stripped the gears. And now they wont cover it. ... show more
