Up until now, every alkaline battery I've seen has an expiration date. I looked very closely at these batteries and the packaging and cannot find any date code. So I have no way to know if the batteries are fresh. Since they went in smoke/CO alarms, this is quite important. I will not be buying these again. Update 9/21/2020: My fears were validated. CO detector woke me up during night with a low battery warning. The prior batteries lasted 15 months with no problems. These "optimum" batteries failed at 4 months. Very bad.     • I got 2 weeks out of these with occasional use in a flashlight

I got these batteries because I wanted to try to get the longest length of battery life i could. Almost everything I have is or has been converted to Lipo and buying batteries is a pain, so I opted for these instead of the USB rechargeable lipo AA because this was an "emergency use" flashlight and I wanted it to always be ready to go, without having to charge the batteries..:) It was a bad idea. They just went dead on day 18, in a cheap UV flashlight that I purchased for recovering any future potentially lost radioactive material. (Uranium, especially Autunite fluoresces bright green under UV) making a UV light perfect for locating it should you drop or spill any. I am bringing this up, because this wasn't a normal use flashlight. I tested it once or twice for a few minutes, and then used it maybe 5 more times over the past 2 weeks to demonstrate the effect of UV on Uranium. Maybe a total of 10 minutes of combined flashlight use. I even verified with a multimeter that the batteries were in fact low in voltage, and the flashlight was never left on, it is very noticeable. After looking these up, it turns out Duracell has a few class action suits against them for low battery lifetime and leakage of these Optimum batteries. Stay away from them, you can buy a pack of USB rechargeable AA or AAA batteries that have much more battery life and are rechargeable quickly in any usb port for the same price as these. ... show more

I measure the voltage before using it and it measured 1.7 vdc. Package well and looks genuine product since I experienced bogus product being sold by Amazon vendors.

I didn't open the package because by looking through the clear packaging, I was able to tell that two batteries were badly damaged with dents on the ends. This was part of a child's Christmas gift for their toy. Now, I can't gift this item to them....I'm very disappointed.

Bought them hoping they would last longer on my white lights. They made one strand of lights really bright for an hour or so. I switched them around to get the bright light out of where I sleep. And now we’ll, they are just average. No better than the less expensive battery. Not sure why. Oh well.

Bought these in February of 2021, and were supposed to be great for everyday electronics. I bought for my front door lock, and after only 6 months of use, these batteries are dead! Do not buy, they do not last any longer than regular batteries.

These batteries are all fluff and no power. The packaging is luxe but the batteries don't last. There is plastic and paper materials that need to be recycled. I won't purchase again.
