For a small vice at this price, you get quite a nice piece. The clamp is very large, you could probably opening to just 4 inches means you can clamp tis to the thickest of work surfaces. It comes with bolts to bolt it to your table, but I don't imagine that you'd directly attach a small vice like this, so the clamp is really what matters here. It comes with jaw pads for holding softer materials as well. The complaints that i can find are minimal, and probably not an issue for the average do it yourselfer. 1) the handle hits the table, you can turn with this as the handle is free-moving, so it's not a big deal 2) the anvil portion comes textured, which I'll be fixing. it won't take but a minute or two with my grinder to make it perfectly smooth and flat, but it should really come like this from the factory. With price in the consideration, the only reason that this isn't getting 5 stars is that lack of thought on the anvil portion, otherwise this is everything i would want it to be. ... show more

This is a great little vise for small jobs on a hobby bench etc. The quick release for fast jaw movement is GREAT and the entire unit is heavy and stable. The thing that is bad is the swivel mechanism. Mine was stuck at first as it was full of paint and I had to work it back and forth to work the paint out of the joint. The locking arm is effective but has a very short throw and is kinds loose and clunky. It works but it's for sure the weak link on mine. ... show more

This small bench vise is useful to the hobbyist or homeowner for securely holding small items, up to 2-1/2” thick. It clamps securely to the workbench or tabletop, or it can be mounted permanently with the included hardware. The vise swivels and locks in place with the turn of a lever. With the pads in place on the jaws, the opening width is 2-1/8”, making for a rather small capacity, but adequate for holding small pipe, metal angle or channels. The quick-release button is handy. There is a discrepancy on warranty coverage: the box states a 3-year warranty, but the manual says 6 months. Overall, it is fairly lightweight and suitable for light-duty use only. ... show more

Had rubber pieces for the jaws and it holds decently. Can get as tight as you would like. If you use the clamping mechanism on bottom it will move around. So suggest bolting it in place. Overall a good purchase

    • Small vise for small projects
This is a nice little vise for any smaller projects you might have. I've been using it for smaller wood & metal projects. The grip is nice and tight and the quick release is a very welcome feature. It's easy to attach & release from any bench. For the size it works great.

This vise feels slightly more sturdy than comparable harbor freight type vises. There is very little play in jaws and the quick release/adjust function is a great feature. The screw mechanism isn't super smooth but that's not a dealbreaker. I wish the anvil portion was not painted.

This is a perfect little vise for the home workshop (or a gift for your favorite DIYer). It is very adaptable and versatile, fitting easily on our homemade work benches. The head pivots easily to any angle with the flip of a lever and the sliding jaw's movements are nice and smooth. We added a drop of oil to the handle to make loosening and tightening a one finger deal. The jaws' grip is terrific. Behing the static jaw is a nifty little anvil face, so you can flatten things out as you need. I wasn't sure what kind of quality to expect for the price, but this little guy is a winner and is helping us with the daunting task of porch board replacement on a 40' long porch. Our edges are so precise. If you're on the fence about this little vise, just order it. It's a great addition to the home workshop, it's well made, and can be used for a multitude of projects! ... show more

    • Versitile vice for a good price
I've had a small clamp on red vice for years (decades actually) and this one beats it in a number of ways: - Wider jaw opening - The mounting clamp is much longer (this more than the jaw opening has often been a problem with the old one) - This one I can permanently mount - not possible with old red - this has a quick release to get close to the right width much faster than spinning - old red doesn't have this. - The jaw plates are removable (I don't foresee needing to do this, but I can if the need does arise). Not so with poor old red - This one can rotate around once mounted and then lock in. Once again not so with sorry poor old red - This one has some rubber jaw guards to protect softer surfaces. not so with stinking sorry poor old red The one area my old vice wins is that is has curved jaws below the main jaws which helps it hold pipes and tubing nicely. Overall though, this new vice is far superior. Note, it does come with some instructions per say, but they aren't really helpful or needed.
