This product made me a Drybar loyalist; I could not believe how well it worked and how great my hair looked after using it. My hair instantly looked more youthful, full, and smooth on day one! After a week of using this I was sold! My hair was looking amazing and was so much healthier and easier to style. I had no idea a good protectant could hope to achieve such results. Sprays out like an aerosol spray, honestly like dry shampoo. There’s no white cast but it does get sticky/tacky. I sprayed on 90% dried hair before I used straightener. I had to brush through some stickiness but spray helped hair look glossy and keep the straightening effects longer. Hair didn’t frizz and flyaways were more controlled. The smell is actually really pleasant, I was afraid it would smell like suntan lotion due to the name, but it smells like you just stepped out of the salon. Smell stays and lingers hours later. I style my hair a couple of times a week and try to use a heat protectant spray when doing so. The aluminum bottle is 4.6oz and has a spray top. The sprayer provides an even mist. How much you should spray depends on the amount of hair you have, I’d recommend using less first and building your way up. If you don’t over do it, the spray does not leave any greasy feeling or residue. This Drybar heat protectant spray has a nice tropical/beach scent. The scent doesn’t linger long which I don’t mind, but might be a deal breaker for some. Keep in mind that this spray is meant to be used on dry hair only. ... show more

I have waist length, thick, dense hair, so I do all I can to protect it. I usually let my hair air-dry, and rarely use hot tools. But when I do, heat protecting products are a MUST. My current fave performs well, but is more a "teeny bopper" scent. This performs very similarly, but has such a nice, beachy scent, and once I'm done doing my hair, it's not overly scented, and doesn't clash with any fragrance I may decide to well. I typically like Drybar hair products and this one hasn't disappointed. It has a similar scent but it's more tropical than the others I'm used to. I always blow dry and curl my hair, so this is a new step I've added on occasion to protect my hair from heat elements. It helps to not frizz up and seems to last a few days (I wash my hair every few days). Don't use too much though, as it can feel a little sticky the day after. I've been using a flat iron on my hair since I was 14, and now that I'm in my mid-30's - I feel like I've tried every heat protectant under the sun. Everything from drugstore brands, to high end. It's tough to really give an honest review on a heat protectant, because it's going to take time to tell whether you're accumulating hair damage from heat tools after using one. (I will update this review in the upcoming months) First impressions: I'm not a coconut person, so I was a little worried about the scent. It is neither cloying, nor overwhelmingly scented of coconut. TBH, it smells like a typical drugstore hairspray. I happen to like that the scent doesn't linger in my hair, but that may be a turn off for others. It does seem easy to over do it, and after using this for a week, I've realized less is more. I don't like feeling hair products in my hair, so a quick 5 second spurt of spritzes throughout dry hair seems to work the best without feeling product after using my straightener. I have baby fine hair, so I'm not going to need as much product, but it did take a few washes to find the sweet spot. Drybar is known for delivering solid products, so I hope I can keep the 5 stars in the upcoming months. ... show more
