Last night I played a new set of DR Dragon Skin+ strings in Quantum Nickel on my 1983 P Bass. The full warm tone turned the heads of my bandmates as I warmed up. I've had a lot of different strings on that P Bass but it's never broken through the mix with this kind of clarity before. It's hard to describe, because the consistent level volume almost sounds like a compressor pedal, but the warmth balances it out with feel and groove. When I slapped it once again sounded like I engaged a pedal, like some kind of volume boost or overdrive, then immediately back to normal levels when I switched to fingers. These strings put a lot of control directly into my hands since they are so sensitive to touch. And speaking of pedals, when I engaged my Aguilar Filter Twin, the opposing waves of sound were extremely clear and distinct, creating a nice showcase. Overall, I'd say these strings bring a lot of tone back to the player, enhancing the feel of your fingers and overtones of your bass.
