  • More Dragon Age
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
If you switch off the influencers, the culture war, and all of that whining and just play the game, you'll notice that it's very much a Dragon Age game. The combat is a lot of fun and it's mission oriented. I haven't noticed any open-world like system that it had in previous releases like Inquisition, at least so far. However, sometimes you don't want to play a game that goes on forever in its own game loops and just want a playable story with beginning, middle, and end. If you liked the previous Dragon Age games, then this one gives you more Dragon Age, so I can't see how that's a problem. Once I started playing, I could feel the escape via its immersive qualities. If you didn't play the older games when they came out, maybe this game is not for you. Cons. I think one of the things that I missed were after combat, it would show the visuals of the "work" that was done during a cut scene. This game doesn't have it, at least not that I've seen yet. It was one of the features that set it apart from other RPGs of the time. Some of the fantasy background is over the top and reminds me of the Numenera setting, but still interesting and stunning to look at. I haven't noticed anything odd about the interaction or the story line. My standards aren't that high. I enjoyed Andromeda and was puzzled when people complained about it years ago. There's always someone complaining about something. Sometimes you just have to ignore it and be rewarded for doing so. My PC doesn't meet minimum requirements so I got the Xbox Series X disc version and made the purchase cheaper using points. It looks great and feels good with the controls. ... show more

  • It's underwhelming
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
Im still getting a handle on the fighting controls, but it's not terrible so far. What im truly disappointed in is the voice acting and cut scene editing. And the music. Acting is terrible. The writers seem incapable of anything more than superficial emotion. The dialogue feels so off. The story is interesting, but it fails on delivery. Music is just bleh. No excitement. I gave it a three simply because I haven't finished it yet. I will update when I do. **update** Garbage. It got to a point (very quickly) that i couldn't stand the dialogue or the acting so i skipped every conversation i could, even though i had no idea what they were talking about. The dialogue is like a 14 year old girl wrote it who has never experienced any thing in her life. It's forced, trite, and lacking in emotion or even normal human reactions. Im angry they so ruined a beautiful series that had actual acting and relatable characters. And beautiful music. How could they have gotten it so wrong!? ... show more

  • THEDAS returns
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
Start with the good- If you remember a game called Jade Empire you're going to love this one. You are the central character you control only your character and everyone else acts as a backdrop support. Combos are now key and the combat is fast. Still feels like Dragon Age, just plays faster with less emphasis on your party. The bad- they got rid of total control over companions- you don't pause plan out your next attack, less BG3 more Mass Effect 3. The combat is fun, addicting and you HAVE to respec to try out new things to get better. The game is a blast, exploring is fun and combat makes you keep coming back for more ... show more

  • Good good
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
It may not be dragon age 1 or even 2 but for a game that has being worked on for 10 years its surprisingly pretty good. Combat is very good story is ok but i wasn't expecting the game to be a 10 out of 10 more of a 7 out of 10 still a good game.

One of my favorite Bioware RPGs great combat and story

  • EA ruined it
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
When EA bought Bioware, I knew there would be changes. They fired most of the original DA devs, and it shows. This felt like it was made for teenagers, not adults. No spice. At all. They boasted nudity, but that was for one scene, and it was far from sexual. No intimacy until the very end, and the romancing is something I loved. Give them gifts and hardly a reaction. Major decisions for the companions have no meaningful impact, just a different armor and ability. Not one decision from previous games has left has been applied. They could've had something similar to Dragon Age Keep, but in the game when you're in CC. They didn't. This feels like a standalone game. Not only that, but it's short. The previous games have 100+ hours. This? I did full completion, every quest, every hidden thing, and it came to 70 hours. I wasn't rushing either. This game is disappointment in a box. The soundtrack is terrible. The music has no emotion to it. The previous games had outstanding soundtracks, and you didn't need any context to feel anything. This game? It's noise. Just noise. The fighting music sounds like it belongs in an arcade. How did they manage to have two of the most amazing music composers create something so horrible? Fanfiction is the only the only way to correct the errors and fill in the gaps disappointment left behind. It's also very button smasher style. Reminds me of Fable in that regard. They went overly complex with setting up abilities and activating them. They could've gone with what worked in all the previous games, but instead they decided against it for reasons I cannot comprehend. Lots of button smashing, and it left my hands sore for days after. I had to resort to wearing a brace in order to play comfortably. It's a very flat game. If you can, just borrow it from someone. I'm sure they may very well give it to you. ... show more

  • Buyer beware
Platform: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
I don’t think I have ever been more disappointed with a game. I have played all the Dragon Age series of games and truly loved them. But this nonsense? It’s a disgrace, the developers should be ashamed of themselves. They changed the entire tone, look, and feel in this entry into a much beloved series. I will be voting against this subject matter with my wallet. There is no place for this force fed garbage in my life. ... show more
