Description

Lo-rider stainless steel bass strings are round wound and constructed on a hexagonal core. They provide more depth of tone, and are a bit stiffer than hi-beams. Bass players who are into slapping, popping and tapping will love the high end and depth of lo-rider. The slight bit of stiffness makes lo-rider bass strings very accurate when playing harmonics. Great consistency and great string-to-string balance are dry hallmarks. From the Manufacturer LO-RIDER™ Bass Strings are for players who are into slapping, popping and tapping. With a stainless-steel wrap wire on a hexagonal core, they deliver a combination of high end, depth and a bit of stiffness that makes harmonics very accurate. Great consistency and superior string-to-string balance are hallmarks of all DR strings, but LO-RIDER™ strings provides more depth of tone and are a bit stiffer than HI-BEAMS™.

  • If you like to slap do yourself a favor and try these.
Instantly transformed my bass into a funk/slap machine, if flea isn't using dr lo riders he should be because the bright tone, sharp pops, and wonderful feel make these the best I've ever used but they do fade pretty quickly, I play an hour and a half or so per day and I'm fairly aggressice and in two weeks time they are already losing their sound but they still dont sound bad just not near as good as they sound fresh. ... show more

  • Buy these strings!
I have been using DR strings for over 20 years, and will put nothing else on my guitars. My son plays bass and asked me to pick up some strings for him, so naturally I got DR'S. Neither one of us could believe just how good these strings sound and play. My son said that they even feel better while playing. You will never go wrong with DR strings for any stringed instrument. ... show more

  • Where it's at!
Oh yeah, these strings are it. They stay in tune, have enough tension to withstand D standard, and most of all they combine a pretty deep low end with piano-like harmonics. To cut through in metal, that's precisely what I need. In fact I go further and lower the action, then either use a pick or hit the strings toward the body as I pluck with fingers in order to get maximum clack and rattle. In a mix, through some overdrive from a BassDriver or Bass Attack, that combination and technique sound really great. I want a raspy, articulate, growly sound and these strings deliver. One tip, do wind the strings on slowly; occasionally they snap if wound on too quickly, and if they do, just contact DR customer support and they'll ship you a free replacement string ASAP. ... show more

  • Snapped before I ever got to try them
First time ever trying these out and the core snaps during the string up process... I could tell the sound was gonna be phenomenal just from how they sounded acoustically during tune up, but never got to actually try them. My review is at a 1 star for now, but hoping I just got unlucky. I'm gonna pick up another pack and update to a more positive review if those don't break. If those break too, DR must have real bad QA issues. ... show more

  • My favorite sound
As someone who makes classical strings, my go to strings for any electric instrument are DR. I have used the Hi-Beams, Pure Blues, and am now trying the Lo-Riders. Each set has their own advantages, but for my personal playing style, and just overall sound, I think the Lo-Riders are the best. The hex core makes for an awesome sound and feel when slapping and tapping, and the harmonics really sing. If you are thinking about trying these strings out just do it. They stay alive for a long time and will even help a cheap bass sound good. ... show more

  • Powerful Strings.
Great sounding strings. Aggressive sound with even lows mids and highs. Hex core so a little stiff which is fine for me because I have super low action.

  • These sound great to me
My bass is tight and snappy, whilst fat and punchy, like this sound.
