  • Tried these on a whim
I have been playing bass with DR Low Rider Nickel strings for years. Having read the reviews on the stainless steel version I decided to try them. They are little brighter than the nickel strings. However they rougher to the touch. If you play a fretless and want rounds I would highly recommend the nickel strings over the stainless. As with all DR strings the quality, consistency, and balance of a set is always there. ... show more

  • Nice strings
Switched from Fender 55 gauge flats to these. Like the bright snappy sound and the tension is a good step down. Playing fingerstyle on the the flats sounded great, but my hand was cramping too much even after they were well broken in. I've had these on for almost a year now, and while not as zingy as new obviously, they still sound very nice to me and have no signs of rust and still hold their tuning. ... show more

  • The last strings I will use on my jazz bass
I have used Hi-Beams in the past and I have found them very comfortable in the playing range I care to achieve. Now the lo-riders have fulfilled all expectations. I use a Jazz Bass with them noiseless; if you have them pups bass: 93% treble: 100% tone: 33% and play very close to the bridge (getting used to) I get an "Actual Proof" Paul Jackson-y kind of sound. I think if you like steel presence and shiny metal highs, you're gonna fall in love with them lo-riders. ... show more

  • Very versatile set of strings
Great strings for various styles. Has good clarity and punch across the lows and highs without being harsh or muddy. Works well when I slap, do finger style, or use a pick.

  • Great sounding and good feel
A friend told me about these strings and so I thought I'd try them... I love them! They brought life back to my basses that I was ready to get rid of because I thought they had gone bad from age or something. I have now tried a number of different styles of DR strings and highly recommend them.
