  • My favorite
Can really brighten up a passive bass and they are my favorite string to put on fender basses Both active and passive

  • Great strings for certain applications and guitars
Okay, these sound great on my Sting Ray so when I broke a flat wound string on my Fender Elite Jazz bass, I thought I would give it a try. Oops. Not so great. Changed my rounded classic sounding Fender into a twangy beast that sounded $1,000.00 cheaper. So back to the Flat Wounds for my Fender. If you want to play metal on your Fender, this might be your string, but if you want classic deep rounded Fender sound, look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Great Strings! Except for that one string...
I've heard the rave about this strings so I decided to give them a try on my Fender P Bass. They are probably some of the best strings I've heard, except for the G string that was in my pack which sounded like it had been played for 20 years and dulled out before it was shipped. I could have been an outlier case as far as the Quality Control process, but I stand at a 3-star rating since 75% doesn't cut it when 100% tone is required across the fretboard. Would be happy to reconsider this product down the road. ... show more

  • Best bass strings on the market IMO
I have been using DR bass strings for over a decade, and they are the only strings I will rely on. The overall quality, string-life and tone are second to none in my opinion. Choosing the right string gague for you application is important, and DR offers a wide variety.

  • Good Strings, but inconsistent quality
I've been using these for many years, and overall, they are my go-to string. I strive for that Jaco sound (fretless jazz) with lots of highs but still good lows, good tension (not too much, not too little) and a decent feel for stainless (they can tend to be "sticky", which makes it tough for vibrato on fretless... especially at first. But...! I have to say that the quality control from DR is suspect. I've had too many sets that seem slightly corroded and darker than usual out of the box. I am not sure if it is humidity, age, shipping conditions, storage condition... or what. The boxes are not shrink-wrapped (they used to be). This flaw may just be the "nature of the beast" and exist with all steel strings... but I swear the quality was more consistent in the past than it is now. I've emailed DR with this same feedback and questions about how they ensure quality control is high. ... show more

  • Kudos to DR for their quality
I put a set of these on my Epiphone EB-3 a few months ago and i think i will try these on my other basses as well. They have a much lower and consistent tension than the D'Addario's iv'e been using. They sound about the same to my ear as most other brands, but with a little more, i guess i would call it attack. I'm a finger player and i noticed a nice punch, or attack when i pluck as opposed to D'Addario or Rotosound. All in all i'm very happy with them and kudos to DR for their quality and value. ... show more
