  • Nice Soap Probably, but Sketchy About Weight and Ingredients
Scent: #6 Gold Moss Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
The quality of this expensive soap seems high, if you can believe what’s on the label. Unfortunately, sometimes you can’t. I purchased 19 bars of Dr. Squatch soap from various official sources (subscription, regular purchase, and Amazon). The bars were in various formulations and ALL 19 bars were significantly UNDER weight! The label on each Dr. Squatch bar says 5 OZ., but ALL bars weighed between 4.12 ounces and 4.66 ounces. In grams, that’s an advertised weight of 142, but actual weights of only 119-132. In other words, best case, you’re getting 7% less than what’s on the label, and worst case it’s about 16% less. If you buy Dr. Squatch soap, I encourage you to weigh it yourself, because I was shocked at the consistency of this condition. Other anomalies... Cool Fresh Aloe does NOT list aloe as an ingredient. And some Dr. Squatch soap varieties are scented only with something listed mysteriously as “fragrance”. These soaps include Gold Moss Scrub, Cool Fresh Aloe, and Bay Rum. So is this good soap? From a functional point of view, the answer is “Yes, probably.” It lathers well, moisturizes with the addition of shea butter (if you can believe the label) and has some interesting scents. Is it worth nearly $10 per bar on Amazon ($7 via the website and $6 via subscription)? That’s a personal choice, but you can get vegan soaps with comparable fragrances, such as Crate 61, for about one-third the price. By the way, I weighed Crate 61 bars as a comparison. They were all slightly OVER weight. About the fragrances... preferences are highly subjective, but here are my impressions. Gold Moss Scrub smells like a men’s cologne from the mid 1970s. Ditto Bay Rum, but slightly heavier. Crisp IPA does NOT smell like beer, but has more of a strong orange-citrus aroma. Cool Fresh Aloe has a floral fresh smell that’s reminds me of laundry detergent. Spearmint smells like you’re washing with chewing gum, seriously. The rest of the bars smell like their essential oils (eucalyptus smells like eucalyptus, sage smells like sage, and so forth). I posted five weight pictures, but if you want a link to all my weight tests, please leave me a message and I’ll provide that link. ... show more

  • To Expensive for Length of Usage
Scent: #6 Gold Moss Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I rarely write reviews but for this product I decided to simply because the quality of the product is so lacking. Scent: Yes, in the package it smells very nice and even when you shower with it the scent is nice. However, it doesn't seem to stick around long after you use it and didn't maintain the same strong scent as when it was originally packaged. Moisturizing: It is winter and the air is dry from the furnace running. My skin tends to dry out during these conditions. This soap did no better than anything I've purchased off the shelf (Coast, Irish Spring, etc.). If anything my skin is dryer than before. Longevity: It is hard to even give this one-star but it did last a week. If you use it daily the bar will be a quarter of the size by the end of the week. Worse yet is it quickly falls apart when it gets this thin and trying to press it together to get more usage out of it doesn't work well. I would accepted 10-14 days usage but 5-7 is unacceptable for the price. Notes: I did purchase the soap tray, as I wanted to maximize the life of the soap. This made no difference, unless of course not using it would have shortened the life of the soap even further. Overall: I would not buy this product again, nor could I in good faith recommend it. This was probably a much better product before mass marketing took over. Now it is a below average soap with the life-span of a weeks worth of bathing. Not worth the extra money. ... show more

  • 1 Bar = 1 Week
Disappointed in this soap. Was great for the first wash, but immediately started disintegrating. The soap got very soft almost immediately and got stuck or chunks were dropping off. Was the size of a quarter in no time. I love the smell and the quality of the clean but for >$10 it's gotta last more than a week. ... show more

  • Extremely expensive for 5 oz bar
Scent: Aloe Vera Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
A single 5oz Squatch bar is $9.95 U.S. I bought TEN 4oz bars of soap from walmart for the same price. I understand that it's all natural. Which I can appreciate. I can not buy a 5 oz bar for $9.95 +tax U.S. This is price gouging. Its sad that its this expensive. I believe it should be a minimum of half the price. Roughly $4.95 + tax U.S. I will not buy these products any longer. ... show more

  • I want to love it but...
Scent: #6 Gold Moss Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Honest review of my first Dr. Sasquatch soap purchase. I purchased a bar of Gold Moss about a month ago. At first I didn’t care for the scent. The scent is hard to describe but it kind of smells like an old hippy. After a few washes however, the scent grew on me and I now enjoy it. The soap lathers well and seems to be a quality product. I like the brand and the advertising. I really want to love this product but... like many others have complained, the bar is pretty small for ten dollars. I have taken about ten showers with it and it is starting to get pretty small. I doubt I’ll get ten more showers of it. I even use a really well draining soap dish and store it on the top shelf of the shower to keep it dry. I might try a couple other scents just for fun but for ten dollars they need to make a larger bar before I’ll be a recurring customer. There are just too many other great competitors selling quality bars that are larger and cost less. ... show more

  • it’s just ok, over priced for what it is...
First impression, it smelt pretty good, very natural smell. First time using it, it doesn’t lather very well, the smell instantly went away after washing off, left with a sticky residue feeling, and questioning if I was really cleaning my body thoroughly, my opinion it’s better combined with a sponge so you can lather well and actually get suds. NOW one week after use, to my shock the bars almost GONE, that’s kinda crazy it only last that long for what you’re paying for, asked others over the week how I smelt and nobody was able to smell the scent, even after a shower the most some could smell was my shampoo, so overall it’s cool it’s all natural with no chemicals, if that’s your main purpose of buying and you don’t care what you’re spending that amount a week for soap, this would probably be a 4 star review, but like most of us, we don’t wanna spend 10$ a week on a bar of soap to be feeling left sticky and not even smell like the soap afterwards ... show more
