This jumper is charged with a C-charger and for the first few weeks we had no reason to jump a car- any car- so we used it as a power box (a box that provides a charge from it to other electronic devices)- which works great. For instance, my husband's tire pump needed to charge before he could use it- but instead of having to charge the pump- he hooked it to this power outlet/ jumper box- and was able to use the air pump. That makes this a great "emergency item" to have in your car- not just for the fact that it can jump your vehicle if it won't start but if you are in the middle of nowhere and your cell phone is dead- as long as the jumper box is charged- you are going to be okay. I got this jumper box to keep in my son's car- when he gets one of his own- because he recently got his driver's license. However, I wanted to keep the box to make sure it worked correctly first- I didn't want him to potentially have an item that would not do the job he needed (jump his car when he required a jump)- or have some flaw and create a bigger problem with the car after using it (if it malfunctioned- or didn't work properly). So we had to wait a while to use the box- until the car needed a jump and- after more than a month- I may have inadvertently left the light on inside the car ;)- so that the battery would die and the car would need a jump. All you have to do is connect the top part with the two wires to the box (which is stored detached)- connect them as you would normal jumper cables- to your engine- and charge the battery (please see my photos). This box acts like the second car that you normally would need to jump a car. And the cables you use are so much shorter- and easier to store. The box holds a charge well- and I think if you only used it in your car as a charger box it would last for months and months- if you used it just for emergencies. But- I can only guess as to how the jumper will work- long term as I haven't had it long. However, if there are any problems, or tips for using it- things customers need to know I will come back to my ad and update it (as I often do with other reviews I've written). This is a great item to have in the car for any person- but especially new drivers (like my son)- who are out there on the road and when bad things happen- I want him to be prepared. Hopefully, this jumper works as well for him as it did for me when the lights being left on killed the battery in our car. As soon as the box was hooked up and it was turned on- the engine started right up- as if we had put cables to another car (that was running) to our engine- as if we had gotten a typical jump. It was actually pretty amazing and something I wish I had in the car when I was young! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and ask me.     • An absolute life saver
I recently had trouble start up with my vehicle and found myself stranded bc of a flat tire, I had a lose wire on my battery connection and had my battery completely lose power and die after I had drove it to another location of course and wouldn't start back up once I returned and was looking to drive back home, and not knowing anyone in my town, found myslef at the mercy of driver bys and on lookers that realized I truly needed a hand. Bc my luck.is so amazing, both incendent happened in the evening and not having daylight on my side made finding help in my situation way more difficult than it had to be. So.....when I saw this device I immediately chose it and was beyond excited to have it delivered! And it did not disappoint me! What an awesome product! You can air up your tire and charge your dead battery with this. It comes in a nice carrying bag and you can see just looking at it that it isade with quality. I had no trouble using it and I appreciated the extra features, such as the flashlight that is attached to the machine itself. I didn't think that far ahead when considering needing to get into my hood tojump.the battery so finding the light it provided was the best feeling. It's so hard being a single woman, a single mother at that in the world today so being able to.find this and know that i can take care of myself and more importantly, i dont have to worry about my safety bc im stranded on the side of the road in the dark and left totally helpless and vulnerable. I hope the makers of this device truly know what a huge impact this has made on me I'm my life and how it has become a real life saver. 10 out of 10. This is my 3rd jump starter. I have put one in each of my cars along with the compact battery operated pumps. At face value, this appears well made and functional. It holds a charge well and I haven't had any issues, but time will tell. The proof is in the pudding and it is hard to review this until you actually need it. I can tell you from experience that these in concept are life savers. I have in fact used one of my other ones after a parent's car battery went dead sitting in the school car pool lane. In that situation, it was invaluable. There would have been no room to move a car close enough to jump it, and using the jump starter took almost as much time as opening the hood, it was remarkable. In the past, I haven't had any issues with the batteries holding charge and I tend to bring them into the house every 3 months or so to charge them up. I can't imagine this one will be any different. If it does go bad, I will update the review. It has all the standard features that you will find in most of these, and they all work as expected. I think the carry case is a little big for the unit itself, as you can see in the photos, but this isn't a deal breaker. My others are a little more compact and easily fit in the glove box, this one not so much. But it goes in the 2500 4x4 turbo diesel, so space isn't really an issue. It claims up to 8.0 liter diesel, and I tend to believe it, though I haven't had the opportunity to test it in an emergency situation. Based on my experience with brands like this, I feel confident giving it 5 stars, if it disappoints, I will update this review. ... show more
