  • Reliable and Powerful Upgrade for Stubborn Dogs
Size: 1 Dog - 1900X (New Release)
I've been using the Dogtra 1900x for a couple weeks now and, overall, I'm impressed. It’s a significant upgrade from my previous PetSafe model and has really allowed me to fine-tune my dog’s training with much lower stimulation levels, which wasn’t possible with PetSafe, where I was always at 100% power so it might tingle him. Pros: Excellent remote – very user-friendly and functional. Powerful – this collar can handle even the most stubborn dogs, which makes it reliable for when my dog is full of adrenaline or drive. Great battery life – battery lasts long on both the remote and collar, so I’m not constantly recharging it. USB-C charging is a huge plus. Minor Cons: LED light – the LED only flashes instead of staying on constantly, which would be more helpful for visibility during night sessions in the park or field. Contact points – the standard contact points caused some pink spots on my dog’s neck, but switching to titanium points solved the issue. It’s a must if you’re concerned about skin sensitivity. Weight: Both the remote and collar are a bit heavy, but it does give it a more premium feel. In summary, the Dogtra 1900x has been reliable so far and is a far better choice than my PetSafe e-collar. ... show more

  • Works where others didn't
Size: 1 Dog - 1900s
My rescue pit/mix would jump at the fence or dig at the ground whenever the neighbor dogs were out. We got a ~$50 training collar at a local pet store, but it was laughably inadequate; she might as well not have the collar on for all the good it did. After reading reviews and articles that suggested this Dogtra collar, I decided to give it a try. The price is pretty steep, but WELL worth it! The first thing I did was try the shock setting on myself at various levels to personally feel what she would feel. I was touching the prongs with my bare fingers, so the thickness and length of a dogs hair can have an effect on efficacy. * At 20 or below, I can barely feel it. More of a tickle. * At 30 it starts to get noticeable, but doesn't hurt at all. * At 60 it gets your attention. * At 80 it's definitely uncomfortable. * At 100 and up, it's jarring and starts to really hurt. So I put the collar on my dog and as soon as she started running for the fence, I "buzzed" the collar a couple times as a warning, and then use the shock setting. It only took a day or two of this procedure for her to get the hint that the buzz was a warning and will be followed by a shock if she doesn't stop, and she now immediately changes course as soon as she feels the warning buzz, and we hardly have to use the shock setting any more. As a bonus, the collar also helps train her not to bark at everything that moves or makes a noise. The buzz warning is all that's needed. To find the ideal shock setting, I started low at around 40 and did a little trial and error slowly increasing the power level until she started responding. Eventually, we found a shock setting of around 75-80 is the best combination of effectiveness while not causing undue pain. My dog is ~60lb with short hair, so you have to adjust accordingly for size and fur amount. Usage is pretty intuitive. You push the button on the remote and the collar to turn them on (green LED will flash on both). I push the buzz button to make sure everything works, then put the collar on the dog. I was a little surprised at how long the shock prongs are. It took a little trial and error to find the proper collar adjustment hole that was tight enough to ensure adequate prong contact while not causing the prongs to dig in. I then marked the collar to make future use faster and consistent. Collar battery life around 1-2 days and the remote life is about 2-3 days, which is about what I expected. We usually don't turn the collar and remote off after each use, so they are usually sitting on the counter powered on but idle. I'm sure battery life would be better if we shut both off after each use. Charging is pretty simple; open the rubber covers on the charging ports and attach the charge adapter. The Y cable is nice to charge both at once if needed. The collar seems to work fine even when damp and in light rain. We haven't really testing in heavy rain though since she doesn't want to go outside when it's too wet out. ... show more

  • Effective equipment to improve safety for your dog
Size: 1 Dog - 1900s
Purchased this collar after extensive review of trainers who used e-collars. The Dogtra 1900s is constructed solidly . Pros: Very quick response of activation of vibration and dog reaction. Note that in order to get the most from the collar the owner should read ahead of time the method of timing when using the activation of the ecollar and desired behavior to occur.Battery charge lasts extremely long. Cons: Difficult to judge the correct size of collar . I purchased the large based on suggestion of package, but would have preferred the smaller size since bulkiness of collar seem to big for my 50+ dog. However, the collar still works well . Would have liked for this model to have had the "boost" feature that gives a set high vibration seen in other models as this seems like a feature that would be easier to activate by pushing once than to have to individually dial up the increased intensity to get an immediate response when your dog is delayed in reacting. Still a product worth the money when considering the safety that it will provide for you once the dog has mastered the task being taught using the collar ( ie preventing running in traffic or after other animals) ... show more

  • Outstanding product
Size: 1 Dog - 1900X (New Release)
I had the old version for years but the new 1900X with the page/tone/LED lights at night/up to 3 collars per 1 remote, has been absolutely phenomenal for my training program with my new pups. The old remote and collars never went bad either after over 7 years, zero issues, just decided to make the upgrade and couldn’t be happier… Bravo Dogtra! ... show more
