The controller didn’t work when we got it. I contacted the manufacturer number on the instruction manual , they did not return my calls. I emailed them they answered me asking for more information. I sent it and they stopped communicating with me. Did not send a controller or fix the issue. Luckily I bought it from Amazon they returned it and gave our money back. Wisconsin Weather. We decided to hook this heater up this past week to try it out before next season & it went from 68-87 degrees in less than 3 days for our 18’ x 48”.     • Good Heater So Far Once You Get The Right Parts And Understand How It Works

I purchased this from a different retailer, but I wanted to get this information out to as many people as possible since it took me a long time to find the parts to make this work. I used this heater with a 13' x 48" round above-ground pool in the Pacific Northwest, which holds about 3500 gallons when filled to 42". On a 75-degree day, it raised the pool temperature by 10 degrees in 12 hours. To use this heater, you'll need to purchase adapters. If your pool pump/filter has 1.5-inch connections, search for "40mm to 1 1/2 Inch Hose Conversion Adapters." If you have 1.25" connections, you must buy a "Pool Hose Adapter 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 Replacement Hose Adapter w/Collar" to convert from the 1.5-inch adapter above. You will not use the included adapters unless you plan to use PVC pipe for your pool. The maximum flow rate through the heater is 633 gallons per hour (GPH). If your pool pump/filter has a higher GPH than that (most are over 1000 GPH for a pool you would likely heat with this), you will need to create a diverted loop that includes 2 Tees and some sort of flow restrictor so you can control the amount of water going through the heater while still allowing full flow through your filter. I used a plunger valve to reduce the flow into the unit, but it took some adjustment to get it right, as I have a 2500 GPH filter pump. Buying a pool diverter valve would also do the trick, but unless you plan to PVC plumb this, you must purchase many adapters to make it work. You may not need a flow reducer if your pump is 1000 GPH and you set up a heater loop, as at least some flow will go through the primary loop. There is a lot of trial and error. -This heater comes screwed to a small pallet, and you need to make sure you do not tilt it much, as it can cause issues with the coolant. -This will "leak" water condensate just like your air conditioner does, so there is nothing to worry about. -It also makes very cool air, so sitting in front of it on a hot day is really nice if you don't mind risking getting wet from kids splashing in the pool! -The instructions for the controller are not very clear and could be better, but it could be due to the overly complex user interface. I appreciate that they give you access to a ton of sensor information and safety cutoffs, but not naming them in the interface and requiring the manual to decode them is irritating. ... show more
