  • VERY capable gimbal but there is a learning curve
Size: DJI RS 2 Combo
Here's how you can avoid the buyers remorse that tends to follow large purchases such as the RS2: - Is it within your budget? (If you can't buy it twice, you can't afford it...and that's okay. Save up until you can). - will you put the needed hours into learning how to use professional grade equipment? If you can answer "yes" to both of these questions with little/no hesitation, then you are in the right space. I purchased the combo and almost a year later, I still haven't taken all of those components out of the pouch as it takes time to really learn the tools that the rs2 combo puts in the hands of the user. That said, let's get to the specifics: The unit I ordered came with a neat pouch that houses all the components in a compact, padded, and zippered environment. Parts are mostly easy to find and maintain as long as you put stuff back. Not a lot of room to store additional things though. The most important skill to gain is how to load your gear unto the gimbal and properly balance it. The muscle memory that this will produce will go a long way. I took notes on the markings for the pan, roll and tilt for all my gear combinations (DSLR + lens combo as well as a mirrorless body + lens). Personally, I went for the RS2 over the rsc2 because my DSLR was the Canon 1DX. This gimbal handled that body with a 24-70 lens with no problem at all. The motors are more than capable of handling the load capacity on the spec sheet however you will damage your product if you skimp on balancing properly for the sake of "time/speed". Practice and put in the time developing a feel for a correctly balanced before a paid gig so when it's "game time" you are able to pivot without making costly + avoidable errors. Battery life is awesome and easy to charge the unit via usb-c. Cons: It was hard to find things not to like but I found two (both are conditional). - if you are switching multiple bodies onto this unit, you'll probably want to stick with the quick release plate that comes with it (or purchase more as needed). I have a whole system of manfroto qr plates which make switching between my gear darn near seamless. Although you can use the manfroto qr plates on this unit, I found certain configurations problematic. Sticking with the included qr plate fixed the issue but added the step of swapping qr plates when done with the gimbal. - If you have a heavier set up, you might find that the rubber grip on the battery chassis starts to buckle a bit. You can easily move that back into place but I legit was pushing the gear to it's extremes at that point to discover this issue. Also, it's not fun holding that much gear up-right for extended periods and therefore holding the unit in briefcase mode might be a slightly better alternative. Pro-tip: when balancing a zoom lens on a gimbal, zoom to about halfway through the focal range and begin balancing the gimbal from there. This helps keep the unit stable even if you were to zoom in/out without needing to rebalance everything. The gimbal itself is quite capable. You are not paying for this product to do the work FOR you. You've actually got to put time into learning how to use a pro-rig. That said, doing so is well worth the quality of video you will begin to produce and the time saved in post with the increased amount of usable footage. There is a lot to like about this gimbal but it comes at the cost of time. If you are looking for something with a steeper learning curve and is more "run and gun" try the Osmo line (I have the Osmo 4) If you try to cheat the learning curve, you will most likely be upset that you spent so much money on this product. Take a deep breath and lean into the discomfort. You'll thank me and yourself later. I also believe that the knowledge from the bumps and bruises of the RS2 learning curve are transferable. The skills you learn here will help you with any other similar rig. The improvements made on this unit that are found on the rs3 were non-issues for me. The benefit for a new user would just be a lower price point. For now, I'm happy sticking with my rs2 as it is still hitting homeruns. ... show more

  • The PRO combo is 100% worth its value.
Size: DJI RS 2 Combo
The Raveneye is around $260 bucks (as of the time of this review), which makes the Pro combo more than a bargain since it also comes with more cables, phone holder, focus motor and accessories. RS2 alone is $850, and with the combo is $999. You'd be crazy if you buy this without the combo since you get a lot for an extra $150. Everything about this speaks of attention to detail. The interface is a huge advantage, the shortcuts, the little fucntions that make the gimbal so user friendly. The focus ring and trigger work quite well, and you can customize what do you want to control with it. The record button if half pressed and hold acts as half pressing the suhutter button in your camera, so you can select focus if using the autofocus of the camera. It is quick and easy to stabilize before use, or changing lenses, all parts slide with gentle use of force. It manage to stabilize and work well with the 135mm 1.8 GM. I know! This is designed to work with up to 100mm, but I wanted to test it with this lens which I think is one of the best lenses out there. It did struggle a bit with this focal lens but it was not unusable. With other focal lenses like 20mm and 50mm, it is marvelous. Anyways, with that 135mm the camera and lens are around 4 pounds, plus the focus motor and the Raven eye plus cables added up a bit more. It held up quite well. I noticed that connected with the raven eye the RS2 battery life is not as good as without it. Maybe because it is always charging the Raveneye. Cons? Well. Everything could always be improved, as of this moment... I would like firmware updates that can gove more. Amera controls and compatibility. That the Raveneye was easier to set up since it can be glicthy sometimes while setting up. Once it's working, it works ... show more

  • Wonmderful gimbal
Size: DJI RS 2 Combo
While it takes a little practice to get a gimbal to deliver what you want from it, this once really woirks well. Tracks well, has a nice calibration feature. I highly recommend the app connection to gain access to features beyond what the on-board controls can do - like remote controlling the gimbal using a Sony Paystation game controller! This gimbal has improved the quality of my videos significantly. Also, shoot video at 120fps to slow movements, and edit final speed in post. You won't be sorry. ... show more

  • Fantastic Value, Even in 2023!
Size: DJI RS 2 Combo
We this setup as a remote tripod for capturing action sports. This mount is capable of handling heavy cameras. It helps with smoothen pans, tilts, and zooms while combating shakes and bumps caused by the wind. The remote image transmitter and focus motor can be used on new versions should I ever want to upgrade and they are worth half the cost alone. Video is sent from the gimbal to a tablet which you can control the camera settings and tracking from. ... show more

  • Awesome Gimbal! Best bang for your buck!
Size: DJI RS 2 Combo
The media could not be loaded. Awesome gimbal! I just started masters degree program for film school and this is so good to have for my shoots. It takes a few minutes to balance, but once you’re up and running it’s smooth sailing. I would advise watching a view short YouTube tutorial videos to spin you up speed if you’re not familiar with basic gimbal operation just to cut the learning curve, which is not much. I can honestly say this is one of the best purchases I’ve made. You get what you pay for, and that would be one of the best gimbal on the market in my opinion. ... show more

  • A most excellent piece of engineering
Size: DJI RS 2 Combo
The first time you hold this device in your hand, you can feel it's amazing. Everything about this is well thought out and high quality. Charge lasts forever, and the bundle with the wireless transmitter is worth its weight in gold. Breaks down to fit in a small case. I've been able to fly a C200 with slightly limited movement (because of the viewfinder), a C70 and R6 easily and without restriction. Control is fairly intuitive with the different follow modes. Touch screen has all of the settings so you don't need another device. ... show more
